Hey all,

I'm experiencing a large amount of indecision on which of the above camera's to buy. I've had a chance to play with both in stores, but I'm still undecided. I've been reading reviews all over the web (Steves, DP review, DC resource - amongst others) and there seems to be a fairly consistant feeling that the Sony produces top notch images, while the Fuji is slightly noisy. However, the Fuji's zoom is alot better and it seems to have a broader ISO range.

Can anyone provide me with their comments on these camera's? I know they're both excellent, so what I'm really after is what they feel their respective weaknesses are, with the exception of Price (I'm in Oz and the Sony is about $100 more than the Fuji) and Zoom (I know the Sony has a small zoom).

For referance sake, I'm after:

- Good quality photo's
- Manual settings as well as point and shoot
- Good zoom
- Good macro capability
- Good low light capability

Thanks heaps

Based on John's recommendation as well as many, many reviews on the Internet I decided to pick up this camera. IT'S AWESOME! I took it out last weekend and snapped a bunch of pics and they all looked fantastic. The super macro mode on this camera has me so amazed - see this pic I took at 6MP setting:

Those complaining about excessive noise are looking at photos blown up to maximum size on their screen. When properly processed and downsized most of this noise will not be evident at all. If you're looking to make 16x20 prints, you might have some complaints. But if you're like me and plan to share pics on the web and print some as large as 8x10, I think you'll find this to be a great camera.

my 2 cents,
Darren
