Basically, I have been doing a 5-day split for the past year or so at the advice of a personal trainer/friend of mine to accomodate my work schedule and my goals - cut fat, maintain LBM.
I am thinking of switching to a 3-day split, a total body routine, or trying out one of Waterbury's workouts.
My only dilemma is this: when I look at the "volume" of the workouts in the Waterbury routines/total body routine/or 3-day splits, it seems like a lot less than what I am currently doing - so will this help me in achieving my goals or not? (I'm not sure if i'm explaining myself)

My current workout:
(Each session is roughly 45-50 minutes, 1-1.5 min rest between sets, 2 min rest between exercises)
(1) Chest - Incline BB Press (4 X 8-12), Flat BB or DB (4 X 8-12), Decline BB (3 X 8-12), Dips weighted (4 x 8-12), Cable fly or Flat DB fly (3 X 12)
(2) Back - Pull-ups weighted over-hand grip (4 x 6-12), Pull-ups neutral grip (3 x 6-8), Bent-over BB Row (4 x 8-12), Cable lat pull-downs under-hand grip (4 x 8-12), Seated Cable Row (4 X 8-12)
(3) Legs - Squats (6 x 10-15), RDL (4 X 10-12), DB Step-ups (3 x 12), Body weight Deadlift (3 x 15), Swiss-ball hamstring curls (3 x 12-15)
(4) Shoulders - Standing BB overhead press (4 x 8-12), BB upright rows (4 x 8-12), Seated arnold press (3 x 8-12), Bent over DB rear raise (4 x 12) superset with standing DB lat raise (4 x 10)
(5) Bi/Tris - Deadlift (5 x 8-10),
Supersets-
Close grip bench/BB Curl (4 x 10-12)
Seated DB overhead triceps ext/Seated preacher curl (3 x 10-12)
Rope cable tri ext/DB hammer curls (3 x 10-12)

(1) Am I doing too many exercises?
(2) Will switching to a 3-day split, total body routine, or one of the Waterbury workouts help or hinder progress towards my goal?

Thanks a lot.

If you had good progress with your trainer, I would consult with him since yhe already has a background on your lifestyle etc.
