Why hello there everyone :)

I always wondered, if the packets of green tea "break" and open up in your cup of tea, will it hurt you? If not, does this give any fiber? If so, how much? Ha ha ha.

I doubt it will hurt you. It is just dried tea leaves. Have no idea on the fiber though, lol.

Green Tea is good stuff to drink! :) Don't worry about the bag busting and releasing the leaves...

When you buy green tea in China, it does not come in a bag. The more premium varieties will be rolled into little balls. When the balls absorb the water, they will float to the top; that's how you know when it's ready.

You are supposed to sip the tea using your teeth to strain out the leaves, but drinking the leaves won't hurt you as long as you don't choke, and you don't mind lumpy tea. Loose tea leaves might be more intact than tea which is produced for bagging, so it might be a bit of a different experience. It probably has a similar fiber content to oregano (http://www.whfoods.com/genpage.php?tname=nutrient&dbid=59#foodsources) - about 1 gram in 2 tsp.

If I'm not mistaken, green tea capsules simply contain crushed leaves, so you are getting the same thing when the tea bag opens.
