I've been strength training for a while, and finally feeling confident in the weight room. (Girl here:) )But I'm really confused about cardio. I understand that HIT Cardio burns more calories over a longer period of time. Compared to regular cardio, longer time at a steady HR. I have been getting more serious about fitness. Anyway....My goal is to lose fat. In addition to strength training, and diet(which is my biggest obstacle) What would be more effective in fat loss. HIT? How many times can I do this, does it matter? Or do I need to spend 45/60 min. doing cardio? As you can see I'm just a little overwhelmed, and maybe just doing anything is better than nothing. Please advise.
Thanks

Both methods have their die-hard supporters here:)

Unfortunately, I can't get the search function to work right this minute. If you can, I'd just search hiit vs liss, which should return several threads.

Yep - like iceweaselsarecool said - search, but my personal quick opinion and advice is:

DO BOTH

HIIT (High Intensity Interval Training): 1-2 times a week.
LISS (Low Intensity Steady State): 3-4 times a week.

1 HIIT with 4 LISS or 2 HIIT with 3 LISS

...Or do THREE?

HIIT (High Intensity Interval Training): 1-2 times a week.
MISS (Medium Intensity Steady State): 1-2 times a week.
LISS (Low Intensity Steady State): 3-4 times a week.

MISS is (naturally) going to be more intense than LISS, but for the same, or almost the same, duration.

1 HIIT + 1 MISS + 3 LISS is generally what I do on 5 cardio session weeks.

1 HIIT + 2 MISS + 3 LISS is generall what I do on 6 cardio session weeks.

...Or do FOUR?

HIIT (High Intensity Interval Training): 1-2 times a week.
HISS (High Intensity Steady State): 1-2 times a week.
MISS (Medium Intensity Steady State): 1-2 times a week.
LISS (Low Intensity Steady State): 3-4 times a week.

HISS is (naturally) going to be more intense than MISS, but for the same, or almost the same, duration.

LISS ~ 60-70% MHR for 40-50 min.
MISS ~ 70-75% MHR for 35-45 min.
HISS ~ 75-85% MHR for 25-35 min.
HIIT ~ 90+% MHR (Hard), 50% MHR (Easy) for generally no more than 20 min.

Find a mix that works best (and is most enjoyable and stick-toable) for you :)
