View Full Version : got a good call from the Doctor yesterday
Blob Wed, August 16th, 2006, 08:22 PM About a year and a half ago, I got my wake-up call when I was diagnosed with type II diabetes. I was already on medication for mild high blood pressure, and was pushing 290 lbs.
That was it. I vowed to beat it. I began my transformation.
Although I still have a long way to go, I am now down in the low 240s, and about 17% bf according to my calipers (still not so sure about that!)
Anyway, yesterday my Dr. called with the results of my bloodwork, and he told me I could discontinue my diabetes AND blood pressure pills! He couldn't stop complimenting me on how hard I've worked, and the benefit of it. After all the effort I've made, sometimes going a long time with little progress, I almost cried with happiness when I got the news. :claphigh:
I want to thank all of you who've helped me along the way. Most of all, thank you John! And I hope this is an encouragement to any others who are in a similar situation.
John Stone Wed, August 16th, 2006, 08:36 PM Man, that's just plain awesome! If more people took responsibility for their health--as you have done--we'd be a lot less medicated, and a far more healthy society.
Great work, keep it up! :tucool:

This is always great. And now you know that if you work for it, you will win.
My old trainer told me that fitness was the fairest deal in life. You get what you put in.

And we'd all pay less in health and life insurance premiums.
M@ Wed, August 16th, 2006, 08:49 PM That's awesome news Blob! :tu:
So many people nowadays get that wakeup call and do absolutely nothing about it. Gratz to you for taking control of your own well being and may this be just another of many benefits you realize from it. :claplow:

leftyx Thu, August 17th, 2006, 08:23 PM Did you ever get to make those DDR platforms? Maybe the family will let you use them... they're very therapeutic. :D

Thanks! I hope it helps. It's hard work, but considering how much I've improved the quality (and length) of my life, its worth it. If I can help in any way, let me know.

Great news. Keep moving on that goal. What ever you do, don't return to your past state. :claphigh:

Thanks Pedro. A woman I work with told me her 41 year old husband suddenly dropped dead from a massive heart attack several years ago. He was otherwise healthy, except for diabetes. The Drs. said that was probably what caused the heart attack. I am lucky I was able to tackle it and beat it. Wow, an inspiration, I've been called many things before, but never that! Thanks and good luck to you.

Nope, I'm never going back! Nowhere but forward from here!
I'm glad you saw this, as I wanted to particularly thank you for your help and guidence. Even though I wasn't your best student, your advice has helped me and many others. You are truly the Professor Emeritus of these forums :tu:

Yes! Thanks for the help! They turned out great. My daughters have been going crazy with them.
Now that would be hysterical, an old, overweight beast like me doing DDR! :jumping:  :nono:
