alright i may know partly whats contributing to this odd physical feeling i have. first let me tell you how i feel.

my bones feel week.. entire body feels down. i havent lifted because i feel very week and feel i cant accomplish much. i just feel like lying down... but im not sleepy.

what may have contributed to this? one night out of this week i got some serious bad sleep... perhaps only two hours of sleeping on the floor. next day... i couldnt function properly... obviously. when i got the chance i fell asleep. got about 9 hours of rest. plenty. this is out of the ordinary because usually i will get 5 to 6 hours of rest... which is fine for me.

today is a new day... 2 days after my bad sleep day.... and my body feels depleted. i dont feel sleepy but i feel very week.

my diet is fine... im eating... although i have been adding a bit more carbs to my diet and decressing my fat intake a little... but i dont think that has anything to do with it.

what do you think is going on? how can i remedy this?
like i said... i try to rest... sleep but i cant sleep... so when i lay down... my mind is up but my body is run down...so i stay up.

Damn you sound almost like me right now. I feel like doo-doo. I've been somehwta sluggish for the past 5 years, but for a couple months i have been completely exhausted. I get so sleepy during the middle of the day, but if I lay down, I just toss and turn. If I do happen to fall asleep, I feel even worse than before. I am also very cold lately, which is ridonkulous, seeing how I live in south MS. Working out doesn't make me feel better these days, and I am eating clean. I don't feel like leaving the house, and taking care of simple chores is a pain to me. Short term memory also seems affected.

My doc ordered me to have a bunch of bloodwork done, and he suspected there may be a thyroid problem, but the tests came back normal. Now he's talking about getting me on some sort of sleep aid, because he thinks I may not be getting into a deep sleep at night. I think it's like being depreived of REM sleep or something. That kind of makes sense, because I noticed that I rarely dream lately, and I used to have some bizarre dreams, every night, that would give a head shrink a nightmare himself. (Like one time I dreamed that Bill Cosby was selling furniture at a flea market in Gulfport and I broke an ottoman and he was chasing me around trying to beat me, going "daaaw, daaaw, daaaw") Now what few dreams I have are shallow and dull.

Look at your sleep patterns, are they any different as far as dreams go? Have you noticed mental fatigue?

Good luck!!!

Hi there,

I have been feeling the same for a number of years now, on and off. I have learned to live with it but it still bothers me. I used to be so full of energy and life and now I struggle to motivate myself. I never used to have a problem just doing things and now I am uncertain and nervous. I have also become anal about small things and although I have the energy for my workouts I really have little or no energy for the rest of the day. I have been reading an excellent book that may explain it all and plan to follow some of the suggestions it makes. Basically its about our diets in modern society and how many chemicals and artificial sweeteners, flavours and preservatives we eat. He mentions some very eye opening things about hormones and speaks about how unhealthy our digestive systems are these days due to our drinking water. Some may see him as a profit of doom. I see it as a warning that even if you eat a healthy diet there are still things you need to do to ensure that you dont ingest too many toxins. I can upload the book somewhere, I just need to find a place. It is a pdf file about 700K.

Of course energy levels and motivation can be linked directly to depression which you will need to rule out. Depression also causes sleep problems, so maybe have yourself checked out.

I hope you feel better soon and keep us posted as it seems you are not the only one that feels this way.

I assume you're not taking any meds or supps which would explain this?

You could just have a bug. Or a big sleep debt. Or is the hot weather bothering you?

For the chronically fatigued, get a sleep study done by a sleep lab. A friend of mine who is 60ish had one done and found out he had sleep apnea. They gave him a machine to help him breath at night, and now he feels like a new man, full of energy.
