Okay, here goes.

To lose fat you have to optimize your eating and burn those calories, correct?

If you find yourself doing an activity for a vast amount of time that ultimately burns alot of calories does this mean you have to eat more?

Everytime I go to the gym I find myself playing basketball for about 2-4 (or more) hours after I'm finished with my exercise for the day; The level of intensity of the pick-up games can sometimes be high.

Now, my goal is to lose weight - and I've been doing some research and I've come across some articles that have stated that the max amount of weight you can lose per week can be anywhere from 1-4 pounds - anymore then that can lead to problems.

I weighed myself in one and a half week since I first started my training regimen and found myself losing 7 pounds in a week and a half.

So, obviously I am losing weight too fast. The question here is if I'm eating the right things and exercising, should I disregard the rapid weight loss? Or should I reevaluate what I'm doing and restrict my time at the gym?

Thanks in advance!

What are your stats? How many calories are you eating a day?

One thing to keep in mind is that the first week of a cut, when you start eating differently and getting rid of toxins and bad stuff in your body, you tend to lose a lot of weight the first week. For instance, when I began my cut, I lost 9 pounds the first week, what it fat? No. The majority of it was probably water weight lost due to less salt and other stuff that causes you to retain water. Make sure you are drinking at least a gallon of water. Playing some ball for 2-4 hours will drain you of liquids. I know when I play pickup games I tend to drink a quarter gallon per hour minimum. :tu:

Weight yourself every week and see what happens. If you continue to lose that much weight that quickly, consider tweaking your diet.

Excercise has much has you want and/or maintain without hitting the wall. But you will only benefit if you do hit the wall once.

I think a person doing a lot of cardio could get away with more than what is considered "safe" or "normal", because cardio burns so much fat, which will allow you to still maintain a sufficient and respectable nutrient intake while maintaining a significant calorie deficit.
