I know this is awful, but I work across the street from a McDonald's.

Every day as I watched the movie (in chunks), I'd go home, pass the McDonald's, and think... hmmm... I could really go for some Mickey-Dee's...

I know, I know... despite all the nasty stuff in the movie, it was only increasing my junk cravings! :spaz:

Upton Sinclair's The Jungle, however, did make me a vegetarian for a few months in my youth. For what it's worth. :)

I guess I am lucky. I have never been a fan of fast food, even before Supersize me.

For those who are, check out the book Fast Food Nation that might change your mind if Supersize me has not already. I believe Hollywodd is in the process of making a movie from the premise of the book.

That said, I sure do enjoy a soft-serve ice cream come from Micky D's from time to time....:D

Seriously, I watched it with a bunch of people, and half way through, we went and got McDonalds! We all started craving it, which was bizarre. It didn't stop me eating McDonalds, and nor did Fast Food Nation. The only thing that got me off of McDonalds was not having it for a while. Now, when I go by one and see people in the drive through, I can't help but think "Ugh, how can they put that in their system?"

For me, this film was the proverbial straw that broke the camel's back. There were other factors that got me started with a fitness program, but I literally watched the movie one Friday night late when I couldn't sleep, got up the next morning and told my wife that I was converting my home office to a gym, which I completed by the end of that weekend. That was about 11 months and 65 lbs ago.

I used to eat fast food more frequently than I'd care to admit; haven't touched it (well, I've had two grilled chic sandwiches from Wendy's due to business travel w/ coworkers, but no fries!) since last August.

Do I miss it? Not one bit. In fact, I fear I'm started to be like a reformed smoker regarding other's food choices - but it takes about 2 seconds to remember that I used to be the guy hitting the drive through with regularity...

Try working there it's very hard not to eat things there just because it's so convenient. I've been sticking to the salads when I do eat there. I try to pack my lunch too for break.

It was enough for me. Even before I started eating clean and exercising again. Wendys chili is as close as I'll get to fast food.

I never really liked fast food. But you bet your ass I'd kill for a McD's Sham rock Milk Shake. I have 2 once a year when they come out.

It really didn't change anything at all for me. I always knew McDonald's was crap. I ate there very rarely before the movie. I eat there very rarely after the movie.

Personally I have never been a McD's type, always preferred Burger King, think it's the crispier fries.

I love the french fries, I admit it.

But the good news is that I have not had a french fry in nearly 4 months.

We all knew that kind of food was crap, the film just proved it. I eat it maybe once a year if I have no choice.

Fit4Me, I like your avatar. I'm a member of the Dobermann Club of Spain for 10 years and have had Dobermanns since 1980. Not now, though, too busy to take care of a dog. Our Dobermanns are different from American Dobermans, as you know. I like the working type which is even more different.

Regards,
Pedro.

I generally eat well, but there will never be a replacement for how damned awesome a bigmac meal is. It just hits the spot sometimes like nothing else can ever hope to.

I love fast food joints. Best place to get a grilled chicken salad with dressing on the side when you're on the road.

I just seen this yesterday, very interesting film.. I'm glad I don't eat fast food. Does anyone else think that trainer who measured Morgan Spurlock's bodyfat is questionable? I could've sworn most of the guys here look more ripped at higher BF%s than he does.

Here's an interesting link (http://www.reason.com/hitandrun/2005/03/superdownsize_m.shtml) though claiming this film was biased.

Here is that ^ guys website: http://www.mcles.com/

It details everything he ate and also every bit of exercise that he did. Definitely a different result than Spurlock.

I haven't seen the movie, but I've heard or experienced so many gross food preparation stories that I can hardly eat out anymore.

You can tell this guy is clueless.. his weight training consists of: chest, delts, abs and little to nothing for any other bodypart.

You can tell this guy is clueless.. his weight training consists of: chest, delts, abs and little to nothing for any other bodypart.

He says:

I want to show how undervalued the importance of exercise is in the minds of many people.

Which didn't strike me as clueless. The other thing to notice is that he often does stair climbing in his training. If he sets the stair climber at a high resistance, it's actually an excellent exercise for legs. Dumb old vanilla step ups are all too often underrated. And he is doing 30 minutes of stair climbing.

Note to everyone who sees slender young ladies working on stair climbers and thinks "well that isn't much work". For them, it's not. Suppose on the other hand you are not a slip of a girl. Don't slow down! Only 30 minutes....

I rarely eat McDonalds and never eat BK. When I eat McDonalds I usually get the fruit and yogurt parfa and a couple McChickens or a salad.

Don't mean to hi-jack the thread but during vacation I ate fried fish, garlic-parmesan fries, and other bad foods and I didn't gain a pound or see any added fat around my waist.:D The garlic-parmersan fries at Curly's Pub are the greatest but they give you terrible breath.
