Hey guys.

Back in January I got into a little fight with a drunk guy on my residence wihch ended up injuring my wrist. It was sprained.. and it hurts as I twist it. It took a few months to recover but it never exactly fully recovered.

When I lift weights, I use light weights and give myself wrist support with the other arm. It was working quite fine.

Then a week ago, my mother asked me to help with some gardening work. I ended up injuring my wrist again while shovelling. It's pretty painful.

Plus, somehow my ankle has been injury prone since it went inwards once. It hurts to walk, but I wear support on the ankle and it's quite fine.

I try wearing wrist support as well, but it's not enough.

Any suggestions on how to haste the healing process? Ice packs... medication, a doctor... it is a problem when I play sports or work out at the gym, and I need advice fast.

Thanks guys.

First, and most obviously, see a doctor to rule out more serious damage or any affliction in the joint.

Second, Google "physical therapy" and <insert affected body part here>.

I've rehabilitated one impinged shoulder and I'm about to get to work on my recently sprained ankle utilizing a few different concepts stolen from various websites that deal with physical therapy. Just don't skip any steps thinking you're creating a shortcut no matter how easy you perceive the motion or exercise to be; PT exercises are designed to work in a specific order to strengthen various aspects of a questionable joint.

If you do it right, you won't have problems any longer. I haven't had my shoulders act up in almost 18 months, and I now include certain preventative PT exercises as a warmup prior to activities stressing previously damaged body parts.
