I also use mycoprotein (Quorn), I'd beinterested to see how far down the BV scale that is if anyone can find info on it.

Short answer..... no, not enough to matter.

Besides a 3-4 bean mix would count towards your carbs mostly. The protein in there is just bonus.
In fact if you're cutting, a soy-based isolate ain't a bad choice.

I would think you would have to eat a butt load of beans for it to make a difference.

I don't see how it could be better. Chalk another up to good marketing and a strong soy lobby, I suppose.

Great... I've been eating veggie burgers twice a day for a while now and will continue to do so until I'm done cutting since the protein and carbs in it match up well to my diet. If I have real breasts by the time I'm done, someone's gonna get an earful!

I don't agree. Cutting is a time when you're body's under stress and you're body's T is not as high as it could be. You want to do everything you can to keep a healthy hormone profile. Some types of soy are not too bad such as soy beans. The soy products are pretty bad such as soy milk, soy protein powder, all of the meatless soy substitutes. Even in the mainstream they are known as estrogenic. For example, my grandmother had bladder cancer. Estrogen is known to cause certain types of cancers to grow. For this reason, her doctors have her avoiding soy milk, which she loves.

Or you could find another lean protein source and not risk it. There are tons.

As always... make up your own mind on the subject and when used in moderation is perfectly fine, simply in my opinion.

This one isn't so one-sided:

http://www.bodybuildingforyou.com/health-nutrition/soy-protein-benefits-use-2.htm

some studies aren't too negative:

http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/entrez/q..._uids=10798211

As another aside....this dude uses soy isolates precontest and whey offseason....I don't see any signs of man-boobs:

A lot of the problem with meatless products is mostly the other ingredients and not the soy itself.

Also...I've seen TC's article before and it's pretty hoaky on many points. He's an entertaining writer and I enjoy his stuff...but he's off base on some points, but backs up some claims well on others and loses all credibility when he mentions "unmuscled Asians"...their culture and diet is mostly fish...not soy.

Bladder cancer ain't something to fool with. I think the doctors are trying to maximize her chances with every ounce of possibility. So they aren't going to play any odds when someone's life is at stake.

==========================
don't get me wrong... I use mostly whey, casein, beef, chicken, fish, eggs and occasionally enjoy soy (in the form of tofu).

I don't think a diet that includes soy once in a blue is harmful....but that's just me. The arguements for and against will flip back and forth probably till the end of time.

Something that I can make in 5 minutes, with similar protein/calories/carbs per serving?

Any suggestions?

Non-fat low-sodium cottage cheese.

Already eat that twice a day, I think if I eat anymore cottage cheese I'll go crazy.
