The AB's diet is from the editor of Mens Health.

In a nutshell the premise of the ABS diet is a 6 week workout plan with a diet based heavily in the power foods.

Nuts, greens, beans, lean meats, whey protein..the usual suspects. Basically they want you to incorporate as many of these into your diet as possible.

None of the information covered within this book is cutting edge. They do offer a few good studies and break things down for beginners. But if you are a member of this forum or an experience BBer then this stuff will just be review for you.

I thought some of the recipes were pretty puzzling. They really push these "Power Smoothies" but none of the recipes in the book were over 20 grams of protein. Some of them recommended 1 tsp. of Protein Powder. I guess thats okay if you are just concentrating on ABs..but if you are trying to gain lean muscle mass 12 g. of protein isn't going to work.

The back part of the book is filled with exercises that are easily found on the net. And with a nutrition table.

In conclusion the ABs diet is a book that has a catchy name and gimmick, but has very little appeal for serious body builders.

Another problem is some of the snacks it reccomends. Dairy and almonds. There are lots of people who cannot eat these types of foods, and almonds is one of their power foods. I bought the BFFM and I liked it a lot better. I have most of the Abs diet books, for recipe ideas. But I like the recipes in Eating for life a lot better. I use the info in BFFM and keep 5 meals about the same everyday, with some switching, and I use one of the dinners from the Eating for life.

I agree about the protein on some of the recipes in the abs diet book. I think that the magazine gives more than enough info about this diet, and buying the book is pretty useless.
