View Full Version : Cellulite: will it ever go away?... Pantera Fri, July 14th, 2006, 04:37 AM I have lost some weight along the way but one thing I unfortunately kept is my cellulite... Will it ever go away?! causticmuse Mon, July 17th, 2006, 01:02 AM I think that whether you develop noticeable cellulite is largely determined by genetics, but once your body fat is low enough, the appearance of the bumps and dimples should be greatly diminished if not completely eliminated. I still notice small pockets of it on my legs when I'm in the supposedly "fit" 20-22% bf range, for example, but once I drop below 16-18% the cellulite on the sides and backs of my thighs disappear. I also believe that increasing lean mass in trouble areas like hamstrings and glutes helps to smooth out the last vestiges of lumpy fat. :) Boxer-in-training Tue, July 18th, 2006, 12:19 AM Last summer I hit 135 lbs. at 6"0 to get ready for a fight. I was around 9% bf and very, very thin - too thin. Anyway, I STILL had some dimpling and cellulite right under my buttocks top of the hamstrings at that weight. It is some genetics, but you can decrease it! Good luck! Pantera Tue, July 18th, 2006, 09:08 AM Thanks for replying girls! I'll keep on working on some weights and toning my muscles ;) We'll see what I can get! Maya Tue, October 10th, 2006, 01:21 PM I have lost some weight along the way but one thing I unfortunately kept is my cellulite... Will it ever go away?! You say you lost weight, but what did you loose? A good dieting is an art form. Good dieting I mean loosing the fat and KEEPING the muscle. Most of the time when people diet, they loose some fat and lots of muscle. My trainers wife is training for competition right now (and I know, this is extreme, but its just an example). Over period of 3 months she lost 10 lb. Only? She lost 10 lb of fat and kept all the muscle and is about 10% BF, RIPPED! The skin on her stomach is as thin as on the back of my hand. This low BF is only done for competition but its curious to see how when most girls loose 10 lb, dont look like that. Then obviously they have to loose a lot of muscle as well. Loosing muscle equals slower metabolism, and looking more flabby (eek, who wants that) So loosing weight (loosing fat) slowly and in a smart way makes sense. Here is what I do: Proper diet (not starvation), eating every 3 hrs to keep your metabolizm rolling, - Lots of proteins to feed the muscle (lean protein like fish, egg whites, chicken). - LOTS of veggies (fresh or steamed). Some good carbs like brown rice, sweet potatoe, oats. - Good fats (lets not forget that!!), flax seed (I grain it and add it to my yogurt), avocado, olive oil, I also love egg yolks - WATER No prossesed, junk food.... Quite simple and you get used to it, I promise! Treat once a week .. for me its a cheesecake in Canada or gofre with whipped cream in Spain And yes, I "drop of the wagon" sometimes, but thats life, I pick up and I keep going.. because I know how good I feel when I train and eat properly. Its a lifestyle change, not a race who looses weight first. To sum it up. I have way less (only when I pinch my skin) cellulite now (at 150 lb) then when I was 150 lb 2 years ago. The weight is the same, but I have more muscle and less fat. When I drop to lower body fat percentage (which now I dont want to do, because Im trying to build some muscle) the cellulite goes away:D buffedstuff Wed, October 11th, 2006, 12:33 AM For some people it really is hereditary. Yes, it is... but Im putting up a good fight with it LOL My mom has cellulite, now that she's heavier she has it on her tighs, hips and stomach (while her butt is still flat ..urgh...So not only I fight with cellulite but with the flat ass syndrome:bang: ) buffedstuff Wed, October 11th, 2006, 07:29 PM Oh I do understand about flat behinds. I was all pancake. I think developing the hamstrings gave it the push it need in the upwards direction and deadlifts sort of puffed it out. Hey good luck on getting in shape, I'm sure you will do just fine. If only these things were shared evenly amongst the population. ;) Water Fri, October 13th, 2006, 03:28 PM I've never heard of it going away except with people with good muscle tone in that area. Slimming down alone doesn't do the trick. Maya Fri, October 13th, 2006, 04:10 PM I've never heard of it going away except with people with good muscle tone in that area. Slimming down alone doesn't do the trick. Cellulite is fat, less fat- less cellulite. I definately goes, its just some people when they loose "weight" loose a lot of muscle and become "skinny-fat", still lots of fat, well, lots- enough that it lumps. Slow fat loss is a key, not a fast weight loss that we all are so tempted by. It definately goes :) Im an example |
