As those of you who have been following my new fitness journal I had major abdominal surgery for a hysterectomy on July 3rd.

For the first week I at practically nothing. But starting this past Saturday, I started craving fruit like crazy, I think to get my bowels going. (I am also taking sugar out of my equation and that could be part of it.)

So today, after several gentle efforts of walking around, was my first real walk where I moved at a pretty fast clip for 45 minutes. I don't know what my heart rate reached... if I were to guess based on how I feel when I do fasted LISS, I would say my HR probably maxed at 115-120, when normally when I do LISS, it gets up between 130-140, usually in the middle.

I generally (when I am not cheating) eat about 1750 calories, about 80 % split between protein and fat, the rest obviously carbs. That will clean out the consequences of a bad cheat period in about 4-5 days (assuming fasted LISS for 45 minutes at least 4 times a week and TBT weights at least 2 times a week) and I would continue to slowly lose weight if I stuck to it for any length of time -- which I never do...:o :p

But now I am sleeping a lot and resting in bed a lot, probably 16 + hours a day. Maybe it will start to be less now that my walk went so well today.

I am going to start in a few days body weight exercises as I cannot lift weights for a couple of months.

I haven't figured out my routine yet, whether it will be 15 minutes before my fasted walk every day (which will probably be at best 5 days a week) or whether I will separate them out and do a more extensive set for 15-30 minutes depending on how it goes, 2-3 x a week. But the rest of the time I will probably be resting a lot, as I am recovering from being under anesthesia for 5 hours...though less as time goes on.

I know not every one agrees with the macro proportions I consume...but it works for me. I am mostly interested in total calories in my query here.

My height is about 5' 3/4" and my weight is probably around 152. What would people think is a proper amount of calories given this strange combo of exercise (though not as intense as normal) and sedentary lifestyle for the next month or so?

To be painfully honest, you shouldn't be eating that much if you are inactive. If your goal is to drop bodyfat, eat under 1500, maybe 1250. Forget about saving muscle, just think about getting better.

I really think that given the situation, you should probably talk to a professional doctor or nutritionist. Recovering from surgery is probably different than just regular training, and you want to make sure everything goes smoothly. Full recovery should be your number one priority.

Not that I know much about anything, but that is what my gut tells me. I'd go see your doctor, tell them you are on a fitness program etc, and see what they say. Ask for a referral to a dietician who can give you specific advice.
