Thought you all mught be interested in this.

I ended up going to a different doctor for a follow up when my tennis elbow wasn't clearing up. The old doctor threw some expensive anti inflamitory drugs at me (50 dollar copay) and shushed me out the door. The new doctor tossed out the prescription; told me to take some motrin; and do the following ergocentric excercise. He warned me it would hurt like hell at first but then clear up.

Rest your forearm along your thigh while sitting. Make a fist and ensure the fist is extended out past the knee. Raise your fist up and with the other hand push the fist back down. Make sure the fist resists the pushing. Do 3 sets of 8 reps of this. Figured what the heck and followed his advice. Worked like a charm! Yes it did really hurt at first but after a couple of weeks the pain went down drastically.

So I went back and asked about this. The doctor told me that there was a man living in Canada that had a hurt ankle but it wasn't bad enough to get him seen right away so he decided to try and make it worse in order to get bumped up the list (something about their medical insure I didn't understand the back history to that part). Every day the man would work his ankle and then suddenly it cleared up. When he was finally seen he reported what happened to the doctor. Eventually some studies were done and they found this method works but only when the patient honostly does it. Appearantly most patients come back saying it didn't work when they really felt too much pain and quit looking for a mircle of modern chemistry pill/shot.
