View Full Version : Accumeasure calipers
synecdoche Tue, July 11th, 2006, 09:48 PM I picked up the Accumeasure one-site calipers, but I don't think I am finding the right point. In the very least, my measurements are way off, so I am sure I am doing something wrong. The calipers are reporting 10mm, which, according to the chart is about 10% body fat. Most other measurements (circumference based and some estimates on this board) have me around 15 - 16%.
Can anyone post a little more detailed description of how to find the right point, or how to position the calipers? Or even (I can dream) a short video?
Thanks...

2nd link has the same info from link1 but slightly more info.
Also some of the vids are wrong talking about the abs, and suprilliac and getting them mixed up. They're very short and no audio but hopefully helpful.
JVib Wed, July 12th, 2006, 09:06 AM Actually 10mm is 14.27%, so the reading is pretty close to what you are.

cashf Wed, July 12th, 2006, 09:28 AM I would worry about the exact number on the chart. All it matters is that the numbers are going down every week.

According to the accumeasure chart (http://www.accumeasurefitness.com/charts.html)they do have him at 10%. where did you find that chart you posted? I think your numbers seem more reasonable BTW.
BreakingPoint Wed, July 12th, 2006, 07:15 PM I wouldn't even waste my time on one-site calipers, your body stores fat all over itself not just in one spot. At least do the three-site, I found that to be much more accurate.

I got the numbers from a E-Book I ordered. This is the cart I go by.
RobP Fri, July 14th, 2006, 08:30 AM I purchased these calipers recently and using the one-site for a measuring I'm getting 21mm or 21bf%. But if I use the link above with the 3 spot for measuring, my bf% will come way down, so now I'm a bit confused. Obviously, my gut is my trouble area but is it fair to base my overall bf% based off just the gut?
I think I need to take some good photo's and ask the JSF crew.
tennisball Fri, July 14th, 2006, 09:10 AM One-site is NOT accurate. Waste of time.
3 site is a little better, 7 gets you closer.
