Hey all,

I've been using NO Xplode preworkout for around a month now. This past week, during and after two of my workouts I've experienced mild headaches. I've also had quite a bit of trouble sleeping at night lately. I think this could be related to the high amounts of caffeine in NOX... How much caffeine does it actually have? I didn't see it on the label.

Should I give it a break or take less? (I only take two scoops preworkout on workout days...)

Best,
Costis

About 100mg per scoop (http://www.endorphinsystems.com/view_product.asp?prodid=271) according to that link.

Are you generally sensitive to caffeine? Are you getting other caffeine during the day? And how late?

If I have stimulants like this any closer than 5-6 hours before bed time my sleep won't be as good.

Hort,

I usually take it in the evening. Yesterday I took it around 5:30 P.M. or so. I get no other source of caffeine, and I get no caffeine on workout days at all. Prior to starting NO Xplode, my caffeine intake was almost 0.

Thanks,
Costis

You shouldn't be using no explode at your age dude.

Actually, nobody needs that stuff anyway.

mastover,

Mmm.. I'm two months away from being 18, but you're right. Even John stopped using it I think. As a side note, do you get any caffeine during the day? I'm wondering how large the benefits of it are (in terms of working out.)

Thanks,
Costis

Costis,

The only caffeine I have my friend, is my lone cup of java in the morning. I train 3 days per week. I have no problems getting naturally jacked to workout. I LOVE TO TRAIN!!!:bb: I need no artificial stims to get me riled! Okay, I'm getting off base here. My apologies :spank:

I wouldn't recommend caffeine at your age, particualrly since it seems you love to train and will quite possibly make this a lifetime endeavor and lifestyle. Caffeine stimulates the CNS and elevates blood pressure and heart rate. However, the longer you use it, the higher amounts your system will require to get the same effects. Being in a constant state of hormonal emergency can't be too healthy, especially at 17-18 years.

You've already discovered it causes sleeplessness. Put many of these restless nights together consecutively, and your muscle gains will come to a halt.

If I were transported back in time and were 17 again  I'd have a nice complex carb source such as a serving of oatmeal, and either egg whites or a protein shake 90 minutes prior to training. And carry a large water bottle with me into the gym.

At 17, all the stimulation I needed was to see a girl in a pair of tight Hot Pants (now I'm REALLY dating myself  ) and I was good to go baybay!!!! ha

mastover,

Awesome, thanks for your great reply! You're right, I absolutely love training, and I always try to give my maximum effort in all of my workouts. I never ever miss a day of training unless if it absolutely impossible for some reason or if I am sick.

Actually, that's pretty much exactly what I take 90mins preworkout. I mix a cup and a half or so of oats with ~40g of protein and nonfat milk in a shake and take it around 60-90min preworkout. :tu: I take Xtend during my workout and post-workout I just get ~30-40g of protein and I eat two or three dates (high GI.) I also get around 3-6g of CEE and take a multivitamin once daily. That's the extent of my supplementation.

I've never really had problems getting enough energy before without caffeine, and it seems it's hurting me more so than helping me at this point, so I'm just going to set the NOX aside. :nono:

Best regards,
Costis

Costis,

If you are going to be that particular about your supplementation, ditch the dates and add in dextrose or gatorade PWO. Take your creatine with your PWO shake.

And stay away from any NO products. Waste of money.

tennisball,

Even though the creatine is CellMass? I should just mix it in with the PWO? Hmm... chocolate flavored protein + arctic berry flavor CEE...

Okay, I will look again for dextrose, if not I'll just use gatorade. I don't eat any junk food at all (cookies, ice cream, etc.), so the dates taste too sweet\sugary for me anyway. :)

I mix berry gatorade with chocolate Nitrean. I actually like the taste. (I know my PWO shake isn't ideal...)

Hey all,

I mixed chocolate flavored protein + scoop and a half of fruit punch gatorade powder + arctic berry flavored CellMass + grape flavor Xtend BCAA's with water. I thought it would taste like crap, but to my surprise it smelled and tasted exactly like a tootsie roll (the chocolate candies.) I actually enjoyed drinking it and didn't have to hold my nose shut. :D (thanks for the tip tennisball.)

That said, I didn't use any NO Xplode today, and my lifts still went up from last week. I broke a new max for flat bench press again. Yay! :tu:

Thanks guys,
Costis
