OK, here's what may be a weird, paranoid or otherwise anal retentive question:

Is there a resource where I could find out what "balanced" muscles are able to do? In other words, say I curl 15 lbs per arm, but can only do tri kickbacks with 7 lbs per arm, and can only do lateral raises with 8 lbs per arm, should I lay off the curls a little and concentrate my energy in strengthening the other muscles?

I can't look at my physique for fine-tuning as it's currently quite well padded with fat. (Yes, I'm attempting the ever-debated combination of building muscle while cutting).

So, assuming I've defined what I mean by "balance" reasonably well, do any of you know of any good resources?

Thanks

The answer is not to neglect your stronger areas, but to workout everything together. Your body is a whole machine, not just parts. Certain parts are SUPPOSED to be stronger. For example, if you were to create that "balance" between your hamstrings and your quads, you would actually create physical problems for yourself.

Your biceps are SUPPOSED to be stronger than your tris. BOTH need to be pushed to their limits and worked out. :)

OK, that's kind of what I thought on certain non-OCD levels. Thanks for the reassurance.

So, I guess the moral is to work everything out hard, and it'll naturally balance out the way it's meant to - for the meantime at least. When I'm thinner, I can start working on particular muscles for "fine tuning".

Somehow, I was just afraid of, after I lose all the fat, looking like a reverse Pop-eye with big biceps and no shoulders!

(Which, then again would be better than Pop-eye with huge forearms.)
