There have been a number of posts regarding the issue of large or saggy male breasts or large nipples or lumps under nipples etc etc. It could be possible you have the condition known as gynecomastia. For more info check out www.gynecomastia.org. It is essentially female breast tissue or glands in men (not fat deposits). I have it myself but not to a severe degree. I have a lump of glandular tissue under my left nipple which gives my left pec a slightly saggy appearance. Unfortunately surgery seems the only solution, but I for one don't have the money for that, so I guess I'll just have to live with it. I was wondering how many other people have this condition or know of it. It is associated with steroid use (caused by an increase in female hormones induced by the steroid use) but it is also common in puberty. I don;t take steroids, I have had this since puberty. There are some pictures on that site and a google search will bring up more info. Sorry if this post depresses anyone, but there have been so many posts about this recently I felt obliged to post, and I admit to having the condition myself so I'm in the same boat.

I don't think there should be any more talk about gyno because most people who have them are at a high BF and it will go away for most everyone. Gyno is only when people are at relatively low BF (like 13% or so) and they are sporting the jenna jameson look. I'd say for 99% of people at this site, within 3-4 months you will see a SIGNIFICANT drop-age in your cup sizes.

Oh yea and that "lump" you might want to get it checked out.

I knew of someone that had this problem. (I don't know that it was this particular disorder.) He lost a lot of weight, but that tissue wouldn't go away. He went to the doctor, and the doctor said that it wasn't fat. The doctor told him that it was probably related to the fact that his birth mother used a lot of marjuana during pregnancy. (Way to go, mom.)

He had the surgery.

That's wierd, seems to me as if this problem's affecting more and more men each year (including me), you never really heard about it much in the past but maybe that's because men were too embarrased to talk about it. I personally think it's got something to do with all the 'e' numbers and crap they put in the food nowadays (makes ya think !).
Oh, and the thing about marijuana causing 'man boobs' is totally unfounded (more 'reefer madness' type propaganda :d_mad: ).

Some men have decided to embrace their manboobs and help out with the breastfeeding duties (http://www.unassistedchildbirth.com/milkmen.htm).

Not me... I want'em gone as soon as possible.

The story sounds a little strange to me. He just decided to lactate, and willed his body to do it?

Maybe I should start willing my body to grow huge muscles? :flex: :flex:

Or because male (and female) obesity is at an all time high, and most cases of "man boobs" is due to being overweight.

i remember reading somewhere, that it could be a result of more women taking the pill, which in turn, leads to an increase in the levels of oestrogen that gets passed in to the water supply and then consumed by us men. i think this also had a diverse effect on sperm counts.

although having just read that back, it could all be tabloid journalism at its best!!

Bingo. We have a winner.

Increases in the use of steroids might contribute a tiny bit, but really, when you compare any of the other potential causes to the rise in obesity, they're all drops in the proverbial bucket.

Please explain the mechanism by which estrogen would be "passed in to the water supply."

Nothing certain but it's being studied on a number of levels:

i disagree, teencraft, though this was proably posted a while ago. Thing about gynecomastia is that there are two elements to it: excess FATTY tissue, and excess GLANDULAR tissue. Regarding the fatty tissue, yes many people on this website probably have a lot extra of that and can get rid of it through working out. however, the 'LUMP' you are referring to is another element of gynecomastia that can only be reduced or removed by surgery. I for one do not have much fatty tissue and am in fairly good shape, however; i do have a large glandular mass due to gynecomastia. Gynecomastia can affect people in the fatty way, the glandular way, or both. The lump is not harmful to your health, though it is sensitive and at times painful, and also can make you self conscious about your image.

Glad that there's someone with a brain around here. The very fact you said he should have the lump checked out, without realizing that is what in fact causes most cases of gynecomastia shows how little you know. Also, it'd be greatly appreciated if you didn't pull stats out of thin air with regards to how many people will see a reduction in their gynecomastia by weight loss.

Go see a plastic surgeon, if the problem is due to excess fat the surgeon will tell you that. If it's due to gland, surgery is the only way you can reduce the problem, no amount of weight loss will do anything to do the gland which is causing the problem.

You can find some more information here (http://www.plasticsurgery4u.com/procedure_folder/male_breast/index.html) I'd reccomend you give the website a look also, teencraft, so you can stop making uneducated, asinine comments.

Quite a lot of people in the world have Gynecomastia to some degree. You'd be surprised. If you have puffy nipples, and/or a lot of fat in the pec area, try and feel around for a seed kinda shape. That's the gland.

And I'd also advise you to consult a doctor (that KNOWS something about Gynecomastia). I had doctors who said I had nothing and it'd go away.

Then I went to a famous well-known doctor for this kind of stuff, and he said I had it, and explained why/how, showed me other diagrams etc. He was right. :)

I'm a 17 year old male that weighs 160lbs and has gynecomastia. I definitely have the rock hard gland behind the nipple which causes my nipples to puff out. I suppose it doesn't help either that I've got some excess fat in that area so my chest appears more busty than it should. :o

I'm looking to have the problem corrected and would like suggestions on what to do. A surgical remedy is most certainly a possibility but my concern is that the result could be mutilated nipples or noticable scaring. If there's anyone that has had this procedure done and wouldn't mind sharing information on it i.e (how much it cost, recovery time, pain involved, how the procedure was done, overall result, etc) I'm sure many men here would be grateful, I know I would.

Thanks
