I started thinking about getting in shape last fall, lost about 15 pounds or so, set up a pretty decent home gym and started learning everything I could. Well, after kind of half-heartedly following a routine for the past five months, I thought it was time to get serious.

I think that posting these pics will be a big motivator, I plan on posting once a month. I'll be 40 in September, and I want to get down to < 12% body fat by then, along with some other intermediate lifting goals. I just got a digital camera, so like lots of other folks, I don't have any early "before" pics. Here are my current stats and pics:

Height: 6' 0"
Weight: 177 lbs.
Current BF%: 16.5%

I lift (heavy, basic, full body exercises) twice a week, do cardio (23 minute HIIT on elliptical) 3 times a week, and follow a 40/40/20 ~1900 cal/day diet, eating as many times a day as is practically possible.

I was never an athlete growing up, so I think I have a little further to go than some people.

Thanks to John for giving us normal folks a place to learn and grow :flex: !!

Good luck! It gets easier once the routine is started. You just need to stick with it to get the results you want.

Welcome Tommy!

You have a nice base for a guy who hasn't been into any athletic extravaganza earlier in his life, and I think you'll see huge improvements in the next 2-3 months :tu:

Also, it seems like we're on the same diet when it comes to calories and macronutrients, but I'm doing a bit more cardio than you. Anyway, keep it up!

You've got a good build. I see a very cut muscular physique in your near future. :tu:

I was never an athlete either, so I feel your pain! Stick with it, you look like you're doing pretty well already.

BTW, I'm just under a year younger than you and one of my motivators is not to be "fat and 40" :D :D
