Usually do calfs on a seated "sled" type calf extension machine, as the local Gold's doesn't have a standing one. I then also do them w/ a barbell and weights (usually a smith machine) standing on a "step" and rocking.
however I finally realized that the leg press machines typically have a lower part near the bottom that's used for calfs, and proceeded to do my calfs today on that.
main advantage being that I could easily turn my toes in or out to targer the inside or outside of my calves. best pump and workout I've ever had in my calves, I'm thrilled.
if you've never tried calves on the leg press machine (like myself), I'd highly recommend it.
