For those of you without photographic memories, what do you bring to your workouts to track your progress from day to day?

I carry a little Moleskine ruled notebook (http://www.moleskine.com/eng/_interni/catalogo/Cat_int/catalogo_notebooks.htm) and a ball point pen so that my sweating doesn't smear the ink...much.

Usually the only other people I see writing down their info are folks who've worked with the personal trainers and have the tracking sheets they can file at the front desk.

I just made an Excel spreadsheet of the workout from the P/T and then I carry around a b/p pen and make notes on it as I go through. After a few weeks, the paper is too messy/destroyed to keep using, so I update the spreadsheet, reprint, and keep on keepin' on.

It's probably not the best, but seems to work alright for now.

I write everything down in a note book and later in the day transfer it to a worksheet on my pc.

Well, I'm at home so I just go down and type it into a spread. I've also enabled my inner geek and recorded them in the spreadsheet loaded in my PDA.

I was wondering if there were people doing this. I don't put my info into a spreadsheed but if I were to ever start doing that I think I'd want to go paperless in the gym.

I have a gym in my basement. Up on the wall there's a "marks-a-lot" board.

if i was going to a gym I'd take a small notebook. But it would be good quality and not subject to degradation by "sweat" etc.

Possibly the kind with coiled wire to hold the pages together or a tiny ring binder.

I wouldn't use a stapled notebook. Pages always come loose in those things and fall out.

I'm working out at home now so I'm back to using paper. When I was going to the gym I used my Palm and a software called PDAbs. They've revised it recently and added a lot of nice tracking features.

It isn't as slick as it sounds due to screen size the way my spreadsheet works out. Too much scrolling around. Even if I flip it to landscape orientation.

OK in a pinch if I'm at a hotel or something and doing DBs, though, although generally I can remember what I did for my 6 exercises or so I do until I can get back to the room :)

I take a half scrap of printer paper and a pen to the gym. PRWO, I draw a quick sketch of what's on the menu. PWO, I post what I did in my JSF journal.

I use my memory for the exercise list, but I use my cell phone/pda/everything else device or latptop (whichever I get to first) to put the stuff in the journal here. So I only normally have to remember the exercise list for an hour or two.

Here's what I use:

http://arker.homelinux.org/~dcraven/trans/hguy/shots/clipboard.jpg

It's just a simple $3 clipboard and a pencil. It contains my current spreadsheet (saved and printed as PDF to remain portable for all time :)) and a few from past weeks so that I can use the past data for notes and/or extra motivation if I need it to up the weight a bit more. It seems to work out quite well.

The sheets eventually get archived in a binder for historical purposes sorted by tranformation week, and the important data gets jammed into an aggregated sheet when I feel ambitious/bored.

Cheers,
Heavy

Wow! That's a pretty thorough setup. I like it. :D :tucool:

I also looked at your progress photos again. I can't get over how awesome it is that the fat shrinks off your midsection while your forearms stay lookin' like you could twist a train-track into a bow.
