I just thought I'd share a story with you guys that illustrates the point that its not a good idea to Rollerblade at a level past your threshold while trying to show off. Embarrassment will likely ensue.
Occassionaly I rollerblade for fitness as an alternative to running plus its fun. I can rollerblade well but I'm not that good. I went a bit overboard and bought a 600 dollar pair of Racing Blades. They are really fast and very hard to stop with and although I can rollerblade well I sometimes get into to trouble with them.
A couple of days ago I went down to the esplanade at the beach to rollerblade for an hour. The place was really busy with people everywhere and as I was puting on my skates these rather pretty girls rode past on bikes. I always need something to push me so I thought I would try and catch them and then overtake them with the bonus of showing off a little  :)
Well I was gunning it and to get to my threshold I have to push really hard. I was probably going about 40kms/h but it took a while to catch them. When I finally got up to them I was hurting and puffing like crazy which I course I tried to hide. So I kept pushing and passed them but I still had the problem of keeping up that pace. I'd only just got past them and my coordination started to go and I was wobbling all over the place still going about 40ks. Then I completley lost my coordination and I knew I was gonna fall. I began flailing and swinging my arms all over the place trying to prevent it before I finally lost it and hit the pavement hard. I managed to roll but I grazed myself and I looked more like an idiot then actually hurting myself. Before I could get up all these people started crowding round. Some asking if I was ok and some probably thinking "Stupid Rollerblader". I was so embarrassed :o It was the most ungraceful fall in the world and everyone for 100m saw it. I wont be going down there for a while and next time it will be at 5:30am in case someone recognises me. Ohhhh the Shame  :)
