View Full Version : Review: SuperPump 250
John Stone Wed, May 3rd, 2006, 09:10 AM From this morning's update (http://www.johnstonefitness.com/news/may_2006_news_archive.php#05032006):
Last night's workout (back and traps) was not my greatest. I felt sick to my stomach from a pre-workout energy drink I've been trying called "SuperPump 250 (http://www.massnutrition.com/products.cfm?cur_man=GASPARI%20NUTRITION&item=GA013)" by Gaspari Nutrition.
I have the fruit punch flavor, and it's absolutely disgusting. I can barely get it down, and it gets worse each time I use it. Keep in mind that this is coming from a guy who can drink unflavored hydrolyzed whey protein without batting an eyelash.
SuperPump also gives me a mild headache every time I use it. Thankfully I've not had "bathroom" issues, as many others have reported, but I do have a strong feeling of wanting to gag that lasts from the first sip right through (and past) the end of my workout. I've been forcing this crap down for over a month now, and have noticed none of the benefits touted on the label.
Last night was the last straw--I'm going back to BSN's NO-Xplode (http://www.massnutrition.com/products.cfm?cur_man=BSN&item=BN011) for my pre-workout energy drink--Xplode has always worked great for me and I like the taste.
Kino Wed, May 3rd, 2006, 09:59 AM John,
Thanks for the review. Might I suggest giving Labrada's Supercharge a try.
steeltrap Wed, May 3rd, 2006, 10:19 AM is this kind of product really worth the money, I used to be tired before working out at night, but that was because my diet did not allow for many carbs throughout the day...(only after workouts) now that i changed that, I warm-up, turn on some music and move the iron...I don't understand the need for supplements to prepare you to workout. Are N.O. products and similar really that good...? I have seen NoXplode, NoShotgun, Supercharge, Xience NOXCG and more in my magazines I read, but have not tred any of them yet...?
kfendt Wed, May 3rd, 2006, 10:46 AM What great timing! I was gonna post today and see if anyone had tried the Superpump 250.
I've been kinda sluggish during my workouts lately and wanted to try something to give me a bit of an energy burst during my workouts. So yesterday I walked into the local Vitamin Shop to pick up a jug of NO Xplode to try and the sales guy said, "You should really try the Superpump 250. It's a better product..." blah, blah, blah. So I listened to him and bought it. Yesterday I had a scoop (non-workout day) to see what happens and to get my body assimilated to it. The taste didn't give me any problems but I really wasn't paying much attention to it when I mixed it up and chugged it down. I didn't feel any noticeable difference after taking it and I did get a slight headache later on in the day but I'm not sure if it's related to taking the Superpump250.
When I got home I did a google search and found many people have problems with headaches and stomach distress from it. The salesman said if I didn't like it I could bring it back and switch it out for the NO Xplode.
I have a back workout tonight so I'm gonna try it again and see if it makes any difference in my workout. I'll probably try it for a few days and then write a review for it. If it doesn't work for me, then I'll return it for the NO Xplode.

I'm not sure what they are, but if you had received the benefits it said it provides, would you still be drinking this? I mean, I can't imagine drinking stuff you describe as awful tasting for over a month. Those would have to be some good benefits for me to go through all that.
Thanks for the review. I was thinking of trying a pre-workout energy drink, so maybe I'll try No Xplode. But whatever it is, if it doesn't taste good, it's getting thrown away or returned.

LCJ Wed, May 3rd, 2006, 11:46 AM I was thinking the same thing. I don't think I could stomach something absolutely disgusting for over a month that was giving me a headache. That's stubbornness to the extreme!

I don't know JS personally but from reading his posts and hearing about his life while visiting here I would not be surprised at all if many people in his life would say the same thing about him!
With love of course!

PS: I can get NoXplode locally so I will most likely try it first when looking for a pre-supp.
Omaha Wed, May 3rd, 2006, 04:12 PM Stubbornness is a great thing, as long as you are smart about it.
The lack there of, is I feel, worse.
Coachese Wed, May 3rd, 2006, 06:02 PM Thanks for the review John. I can add that to the list of supplements I WON'T be trying.
I personally am not in the 'pre-workout' drink camp. My pre workout energy comes from Diecast, Tool and Mudvayne.
