I got into IT cos I was told that there was lots of cash involved. Well I was young and dumb and should have listened to my career advisors who all said that I would be suited to an active job. They said things like game ranger etc but I now know that my ideal job would be in sports science/fitness/training etc.

Granted I was not interested in any of the above when I studied IT but I am now.

I want to change careers but with two kids and a mortgage amongst others thats easier said than done.

Anyhow, just felt like I needed to rant a bit. I am very grateful for all the wonderful things I have in my life... sometimes I just get frustrated is all. :p

I don't necessarily hate it. I find the actual work very tedious, but I really enjoy being able to talk to all the people as I'm helping them. Plus the pay is nice!

I'm the only guy in a small company, so they also treat me like a superhero when I fix something, so that always helps.

"young and dumb and should have listened to my career advisors "

The mantra of 90% of the network admins I know. As Yoda would say "you chose poorly" and I advise you to seek alternative careers.

Money isn't everything, health and happiness rule.

From time to time I hate it, but Im in same situation like jefe. Small company only one there that handles the IT-related stuff and they see me as a superhero if I fix something.

But yeah wouldn't mind changing job, but with morgage and stuff its not really in place :<

Actually, Yoda would have said "Poorly, you have chosen!"
