I've been using fat free chedder cheese slices on my deli meat sandwiches lately for the added protein. I don't know if it's the cheese or something else, but i've noticed a gain in weight. the slices have 2g carbs 30 cals 5g protein 0g fat... what's the deal?!

have you tried cutting (out) the cheese for a bit to see if things go back to normal?

i steer clear...IMO the protien isnt really benificial (like chicken or tuna would be)

and the extra carbs dont help either..

full fat cheese can be considered ahealthy fat

no i just started using it, i honestly don't even like the taste of it, i'm just trying to max out my protein in as many ways as possible. I guess i'll cut it out though. I still think the heavy drinking i did on saturday is retaining some water..but uhhh we'll say its mostly the cheese. thanks guys ;)

30 calories will not make any difference, sorry.

I think the drinking isn't making you retain water- it would dehydrate you. More likely, the heavy drinking just made you gain weight. Average 12 ounce beer=120 cals. 1g of alcohol=7 cals

Maybe you should cut out drinking, and you might lose weight. Save the drinking for once in a while if you're serious about it.

Good luck.

It does dehydrate you during the drinking but when you return to eating healthy and sobering up, for me at least, i tend to retain a good 5-7 pounds of water for a few days at least. Its pretty freaky to see your weight jump around like that.

However, i'm 220 so some people might not see such a big swing.

I avoid dairy for the most part when on a cut as dairy can cause a layer of subcutaneous moisture that thickens the skin. This causes the skin to hide some vascularity and it will not pull tightly against your muscles preventing you from achieving that ultra-defined look.

That said, even when I'm purposely avoiding dairy, I still have a cup of yogurt and a slice of fat-free cheese daily; that accounts for about 7% of my daily calories. I put that cheese slice on my 93% lean burger patties - I grill these all the time when on a cut. I've made it below 10% doing this every day for months on end. The cheese isn't your problem, the drinking is.

Bingo. If the liver is busy processing alcohol, it's not oxidizing stored fat - every time you drink, you shut your liver down for fat loss because it's got to clean the alcohol out of your bloodstream. Booze is a huge no-no on a cut.

I tried those fat free cheese slices a few months ago, and I thought they were nasty. Almost a slimy consistency. Went back to 2% slices, much better and still fairly low calories.

If I didn't booze on the weekends, cutting would be too easy. ;)

Maybe you should save the drinking to you're 21? Think about how 'cut' you'd be in three years...
