Learning how to Clean properly (in progress) :D

The most notable things I have learned about myself and my abilities include:
1. I am endo-meso. I get much hungrier when I eat carbs then when I eat fats instead.

2. Gaining muscle is possible while cutting. Not a lot, and not very quickly, but I did notice some minor gains.

3. If you cheat big, you will feel like crap. I documented my feelings before and after I cheated big. Four out of four times, I eagerly anticipate the food, then regret eating so much. I also feel worse, have digestional problems, and feel less satisfied than had I eaten moderately. This has encouraged me to reduce large scale cheating.

4. Cutting is the best time to learn new form. I decided to pick up cleans this cut, and have gotten the gist of it down. On "cardio" days, I load a bar lightly (maybe 20 additional lbs) and practice my form over and over. I get a great workout, then when I am tired of that, I go and do some HIIT/Sprints. It feels good, it isn't dull (I find LISS dull), and I practice the form.

So: Here are the results. Post cheat day weigh ins in red.

I have one before pic, but it is in the summer of last year and isn't really representative of this cut. I had lost about 5 lbs before that. I can post it anyways. In this picture I am at ~158 lbs. I had some problems bulking properly at home. In that picture I was at my strongest bench though. Squat and DL were the same. I neglected weights during the winter session of September to December. Bad! :spank:

I will be bulking. Start date: May 7th.

I'd easily put him at sub-10% levels. Looks like he has the same "curse" I do... everything else pops out, but those abs just don't wanna say hello to the world in a pronouced way. Any way you slice it, he's done an excellent job and I salute the hard work.

Agreed. Some more resistance training on the abs might work here. Cable crunches, for example, may bring them out.

(And betastas, GREAT JOB! You look fantastic.)

Thanks.

I actually never bothered to do direct abdominal work. Seeing as I'm not much for show, I never really cared. I love to put up my numbers though, so I have encorporated some side bends and hanging abs. I recall trying cable crunches before, but I was too light to use enough weight to feel it. I always ended up having a 35 lb plate sit on the back of my calves to hold me down and eventually I gave up and minimized my ab work.

Anyways - Someone asked about my BF% - I don't really know. I haven't tested it, I don't have calipers and buying chains and collars is higher on my list than calipers. I'm going to take a waist measurement (rtestes suggested this in another thread) and keep a baseline with that. The old "grab and feel" test also works pretty good. But not in public.

Wow. If I just saw the pics I would have never had guessed you could put up those numbers.

If those numbers are real, you've got huge upward potential if you decide to bulk and put on more mass, in my opinion.

They say the internet adds 30 lbs to every lift...

But really, I have no motive to make up numbers. I have always trained pretty heavy and love my compounds. When I get to 1000 combined, I will take some photos of myself in the lift. I guess if you really want to increase the weight, you can. Then biomechanical maximums take over, and its time to bulk. :D

No dude, it's just jealousy! Your upside at this point seems a lot more attainable than where I am. Good luck on the 1000 combined!
