Healthy kids need to exercise, to develop their motor skills (is that what you call it? I kinda took it out of the blue...) and get stronger. As long as you don't overdo it, I think she'll probably be healthier if you take her along when you run. If she can't keep up, slow down. You can always take her along every other time if you want to run faster than she can. Just don't push her into anything. Exercising should be all about fun when you're a kid.
chops Thu, March 25th, 2004, 05:05 PM i think it depends on the duration and how fast you want to go (but i don't have kids) so probably the best thing is perhaps you can ask her gym teacher at school.

rstokes2001 Thu, March 25th, 2004, 05:11 PM Why not get her to ride her bike?
Adam_S Thu, March 25th, 2004, 05:27 PM There has been no research done, ever that suggests too much exercise will stunt a kids growth. ANd there's no way that going on a jog with Mom is going to stunt any kid's growth. It's a non issue. If you were trying to get her to do serious intense weight training, there might be a problem, but again, no research, so from a scientific perspective exercise=stunted growth is an urban legend about like masturbation=warts.
the jogging will probably make her healthier with a bigger appetite, not exactly bad things.
Bawl Thu, March 25th, 2004, 05:30 PM When I was visiting my parents, I had my little brother with me as I was doing my morning HIIT. Basically, I would use him as a gauge to when I would run or walk. I would jog ahead about 30-45 seconds, then sprint back to him. It worked well until he finally figured it out, and would run backwards when I started sprinting. :d_mad:
I guess he thought my intensity wasn't high enough. :d_biggrin:
