Monday I am starting a new routine and diet. For some reason I am having a very hard time with taking the before pic. I am in pretty good shape, I am just not anywhere near where I want to be.

Did anybody here NOT take a before pic and regret it later ? I was a really chubby kid so growing up I avoided pictures when I could. Now I am a young adult and I guess that has stuck with me, despite being in a lot better shape.

I guess what I am asking some of you guys and gals is....how did the before picture play a part in your transformation ?

TAKE THE PICTURE!!!

You don't have to show it to anyone except you.

The reason behind this is because the changes that are about happen to you will be slow. You will not notice them immediately. You, yourself said that you were always a chubby kid. By now, that image is burned into your mind. For a long time, no matter how well you look in the mirror, you are STILL going to see the "chubby kid". It is only when you can reference your "before" picture, that you will be able to notice the changes that have been subtlely happening to you.

I take weekly picture (4 poses, front, back, side, side with arms up) and one monthly set of said types.

I love them. When you look at where you were and where you are, it motivates you like nothing else. If I could only have one, I would trade a scale for progress pics. Yeah, I like them THAT much.

Take it, and keep it stashed away or on your computer (I assume you only have a normal camera, and don't want some kid at rite aid seeing you when you get it developed, right?). You never have to look at it until a month or so later. But when you do, it will be well worth any embarrassment you may think you will incur.

Either way, good luck.

I cannot stress this enough -- TAKE THE PICTURE.

First, you will regret it when (not if, but when) you have dropped a ton of bodyfat and/or gained a bunch of muscle. You'll take your picture at that point and kick yourself for not having the before to compare it to and to show friends.

Second, this is motivation. Take the picture and tape it to your bathroom mirror. Every morning when you wake up and every night when you go to bed you will see the picture. This may help you stay motivated to reach your goals. Tape another copy of it to your fridge, so that you'll see it when you go to grab a beer or a slice of cake.

Heck, I'd take weekly pics if I were you and tape each one to the bathroom mirror next to the previous one. :)

Well, you don't have to study it, but do you have to make sure it was taken correctly. ;) Take it and then lock it away somewhere safe.

Take the picture!

There will be days when you don't think you have made any progress and you will need to see it in the pictures!!

Taking pics (front/side/back) every few weeks is great incentive to keep going!:)
