Hi All, My wife is really wanting to start getting serious about lifting weights. She already does cardio 4x a week, eats healthy, etc. The only problem is that she doesn't really know where to start with weights. Can someone point me to a website or give us a workout to start her on? Possibly what one of the other ladies in the forum is currently doing. Thanks!

What kind of equipment will she have available? Will she be going to the gym?
I'm doing all my workouts at home, using dumbbells or my own body weight only. It goes something like this:
12 dead lifts
12 push-ups
12 bent over rows
12 lunges
12 tricep presses with leg extended to the side
12 plie squats with bicep curls
12 supermans
12 ab crunches on stability ball
I adapted this routine from Prevention Magazine. If I had access to more equipment, I'd do this routine instead: Body Building Full Year of Workouts (http://www.bodybuilding.com/fun/workyear.htm)

Thank you! That's exactly what I was looking for! She will be working out at home. We have a bench with a lat bar as well as several cardio equipment. We should be able to come up with a good workout. Thanks again!

Sure. Find a plan she likes the look of, then change all the pronouns to "she." ;)
Really, it's that simple.
Krista rocks.

here is a weight training website for women www.stumptuous.com
her weight training should be like yours. the only difference is she will probably be using less weight. train her like you would train any newbie, don't train any special way because she is female. in the beginning, i think just start her out light to teach her her proper form . :tu:

Thanks for the fabulous links, guava. :claplow:
I've been weight training for about 3 months now but am getting bored with my routine (3 day split) and don't seem to be seeing any results.
I'll definitely give the "year of" routines a try, probably at Month 3.
Thanks once again!
