Hello all, Hope you can help.

About a year ago i posted a thread about my arms swelling up. The advice I was given pointed me in the direction that i was just not warming up properly and overdoing it.
Any way, after my arm went down i didnt get back into my training.

Now, I have just again started a bulking program having not lifted since then.
I have again paired my back and bicep together for Mondays.

Two weeks ago i went to the gym, warmed up with three mins on the cross trainer then three lighter sets of lat pull downs, until doing three heavy sets of lat pulldowns (to 12 reps - as im just getting started) - MY ARMS BECAME SWOLEN STRAIGHT AWAY. They swell up below the bicep. I tried to carry on for a bit and then gave up.

I left it a week and then did my legs and shoulders, and my chest days.

Then on this Monday i tried again. My arms had gone down my now, but i decided to start with EZ curls, starting light and working my way up. Then i did the rest of my work out. My arms did swell but not to much.

Then on Tuesday i did my legs/shoulder day, finishing with military press and lat pulldowns. After this my arms became swollen again.

ANY ONE HAD SOMTHING SIMILAR?

They swell up below the bicep and become quite painful. More painful then you would expect from DOMS. Also the swelling prevents me from straitening my arms.

ANY ONE GOT ANY IDEAS?

Im really stuck because i really need to put weight on and this is going to stop me training.

Andy

Do you ice down after working out?....try that for a couple of weeks till you adjust to the exercise. Massage will help circulation issues as well.

I havent seen a specialist, although i have spoken to all the trainers in the gym and they were no help.

I mite go see a physio.

- hope it isnt bird flu, i could be the first human case in the uk - come to think of it, i do sleep with the chickens - is that how you catch it?

On a more serious note - ice down? rub ice on it?

This doesn't seem like a workout problem as you described it. Get to a doctor and find out. Carry a dumbell and show him.

Actually, it sounds like some serious inflamation of the joints and ligaments.

I'm going to... what is it, 5th 4th? the suggestion of going to the Dr. It could be something like arthritis in your joint, or a virus or something else. Either way, it's worth getting it looked at because it isn't a normal reaction.
