View Full Version : Movies you are ashamed to like
baldridges Tue, March 23rd, 2004, 07:14 PM Ok, we had the "Movies that Sucked" thread, but all of us have probably the top 5 movies that we are ashamed to love. Post your top 5, and a short explaination in your defense:
1. "You've Got Mail" - no self respecting man should like this movie, but sorry, I love Tom Hanks
2. "From Justin to Kelley" - my wife made me watch it, and I left the theatre thinking "that wasn't 1/2 bad" (i can't belive i just admitted that)
3. "Hackers" - I didn't know I had to be ashamed to like this 'till it made several of your "movies that sucked" list
4. "The Butterfly Effect" - not sure why everyone thought it was so bad - I loved it!
5. "Karate Kid" - what can I say, Ralph Machio (sp) is the man!
I sure hope others post too, otherwise I just made a complete idiot of myself. :o
Chim-Chim Tue, March 23rd, 2004, 07:27 PM I am afraid to admit that I liked "Bring it On" .
teencraft Tue, March 23rd, 2004, 08:50 PM I admit...
Spice world, and it's not for the T'n'A because I liked that movie before I knew what T or A was...:-(
Evil Hx Coupe Tue, March 23rd, 2004, 08:59 PM Finding nemo! :o
Super Fink Tue, March 23rd, 2004, 09:03 PM Finding nemo! :o
No no no - great flick...well done no need to be embarrassed!
Now if you said from Justin to Kelly...lol just kidding :p
I love crappy movies...if I am entertained, I like it...its simple...and sometimes I just love a no brainer movie...way too many to name...
HobbesAB Tue, March 23rd, 2004, 10:29 PM 2. "From Justin to Kelley" - my wife made me watch it, and I left the theatre thinking "that wasn't 1/2 bad" (i can't belive i just admitted that)

Ansett Tue, March 23rd, 2004, 11:23 PM "Road House" with Patrick Swayze.
Oh god, the shame...
marcus Tue, March 23rd, 2004, 11:25 PM Well these are pretty good films but I dont tell many of my friends that I like them because they are a bit sappy.
Pretty Woman: Seen about 30 times. Cant help but love it.
Dirty Dancing: Same as above.
28 days: I just like this movie for some reason.
I've got mail Mail - saw it on a plane to Angola so whenever I watch the movie it brings me back to those times of travel and its also grown on me.
Thats all I can thinkof for now, but Im sure there are many more.

seeDerekNow Wed, March 24th, 2004, 01:07 AM Oh - can't forget Army of Darkness - Bruce Campbell rules!
superdave Wed, March 24th, 2004, 01:56 AM I've got to go with Starship Troopers.
I've seen it several times. It's hard not to like a big ol alien bug sucking out the brains of some pretty boy pilot. That and Denise Richards is so hot.
dstaver Wed, March 24th, 2004, 06:21 AM A Knight's Tale :o (I even watched it twice!)
Super Fink Wed, March 24th, 2004, 09:00 AM Super Troopers was great, no need to be ashamed!!
A knights tale wasn't terrible - I like how they mixed new/old music and the style it was filmed in - i'll watch it when its on TV...
Jingo Wed, March 24th, 2004, 10:58 AM omg people!
Karate kid is an all time classic
Knights tale is a modern day classic!
Starship troopers is awesome!
Best of the Best is one of the best mainstream martial arts films evah!
Pretty Woman and Dirty Dancing are chick flicks guys are allowed to like!
Don't be ashamed :)
take5 Wed, March 24th, 2004, 03:10 PM There is only one film I'm ashamed of liking: The Craft. It's so awful, but it's got one of my dream girls, Rachel True, and a vulnerable and gorgeous Nev Campbell. *sigh*
And it takes a lot to get me to admit shame. I love to proclaim my eternal love of Showgirls!
(I promise, my movie watching isn't all about oggling chicks)
Specialbear Wed, March 24th, 2004, 03:17 PM ANYTHING w/Jennifer Lopez.
Honey (omg she is so hot)
any chick flick. (man i get crap for this from my friends)
Jaydar Culexsis Wed, March 24th, 2004, 10:25 PM This topic is dumb. No one should ever be ashamed because of a movie that they like. There's nothing wrong with liking any movie.
John Stone Wed, March 24th, 2004, 11:04 PM This topic is dumb. No one should ever be ashamed because of a movie that they like. There's nothing wrong with liking any movie. While I agree with your statement that no one should be ashamed of any movie they enjoy watching, please keep in mind that this is just a light-hearted thread. It's not a "dumb" topic at all. It's just for fun - lighten up!
