hey guys i have read a lot about people making these pancakes using oatmeal and protein powder. Well im gonna try making them this weekend but i cant seem to find a good recipe for them again. I found one a while back but now Ive searched back through all the pages of this forum but i cant seem to find it (maybe it was another forum?). So if anyone has it could they please post? These pancakes sound awesome and i cant wait to try em out...also the recipe calls for egg whites but will egg beaters work too? Not for the nutrient side but for taste wise? The closest thing to egg whites i can get to are egg beaters and so i wanna know if they will work too cause egg beaters have a lil taste to them. One last question...if i remember correctly people were using "quick" oats for the oatmeal. Well i got the kind that is "slow cooking" so how would i use this oatmeal instead? Same thing? just mix it in or do i need to cook it first then pour onto frying pan? Thanks to any of those that can help me out

Here ya go,
2 eggs
1/2 cup oatmeal
1 scoop of whey
2 tablespoons of Natty PB

Mix all the ingredients sans the PB into a batter. Pour into no stick skillet. Put heat on ultra low. Flip the pancake when MANY bubbles have surfaced on the pancake. Take off the hot plate and spread the Natty PB over the top. Place in microwave for about one minute to melt the pb more. 440 cals but I cut it in half and eat as two separate meals. 220 cal 10.75 fat 20 carbs 22 protein. good luck

thanks i appreciate it. Also instead of two eggs could you us egg substitute (i.e egg beaters) and if so 2 eggs would be like what? a half cup or something like that? thanks again though

Yeah about a half cup or maybe less. Good Luck. I absolutely love these pancakes and can't get enough of them. I use Natty PB SUPER CHUNKY. The melted PB is soooooooo good I can not believe that it is sooo healthy for you.

heres another pancake recipe

Bodybuilder Pancakes:

1/2 cup oats
1/2 cup cottage cheese
1 Whole Egg
4 Egg Whites
Dash of Vanilla Extract
Dash of Cinnamon

Blend until a liquidy batter forms

Pour into a nonstick pan and wait until the cakes bubble, flip and serve

The best part: Protein frosting

1 Scoop Whey in a bowl, 3 packets splenda, 1 tbsp skim milk. Mix until desired consistancy is acheived.

Spread over the pancakes

What is "Natty PB?"

Do you mean natural peanut butter, maybe?

Here ya go,
2 eggs
1/2 cup oatmeal
1 scoop of whey
2 tablespoons of Natty PB

I wonder how this would taste:
2 eggs
1/2 cup Whole Wheat Flour(allergic to oats)
1 scoop of rice protein(I have my reasons)
2 Table Spoons of Almond Butter.(allergic to pb)
This might be pretty good.

I tried the first recipe on this thread this weekend, and it was awesome. I used 1/2 cup egg beaters instead of eggs. It is possible to split it into 2 meals, it's a lot of food. But I ate it all, because it was breakfast and I like big breakfasts. Oh yeah, it's even better with a little Atkins syrup on it! Just FYI.

I love breakfast and I was elated to find this thread. I just mixed this concoction up and the results were really good...well...to me at least.

1/2 Cup Egg Beaters
1/2 Cup Ground Wheat Flour
1 Scoop Vanilla Whey
1/8 TSP Baking Powder
1 TBSP Splenda
1/4 (or so) Cup Water
Dash Vanilla
Dash Cinnamon
Atkins Maple Syrup

Makes about 6 - 5" pancakes depending on the amount of water you use.

I mixed up the dry ingredients, then folded in the eggs and vanilla until all the dry was wet. I then added water until the batter reached the consistency I like. Here are the nutrition numbers for the whole batch, you can divide them into as many cakes as you make.

Calories: 383
Fat: 3
Sat Fat: 1.05
Carbs: 47
Fiber: 7
Sugars: 3
Protein: 49
Sodium: 451

Also, I found out that Egg Beaters and Stone Ground Wheat bread make some awesome french toast!

I've recently tried both the 1st and 2nd recipies in this thread and both are good. The 1st recipie is pretty dry and though it tastes okay, I wasn't too crazy about it. The 2nd recipie was very moist and tasted just like regular pancakes. I'll definitely be making that one again.

great job guys!

In the egg substitute we have here, 1/4 cup equals one and one half egg white. An egg white has about 25% the calories of a whole egg.

If I were going to replace the two eggs with the same calorie amount of the egg substitute, I'd need a little more than 1 and 1/4 cups of the egg substitute.

If i wanted to go for the same protein as in two eggs, I'd need three egg whites, this would be 1/2 cup.

If I wanted the same volume as two eggs, I'd need a little over 1/2 cup.

Hope this helps. I don't think I'd use much less than 1/2 cup in any case, though 1/2 cup sounds very close to right. If I were to use egg substitute (personally, I just use whole eggs) I might make up the missing calories by adding peanut butter  or flax or coconut oil :flex:

I've tried both too. And I agree that the 1st is a bit dry. I'm wondering if you whisk the egg white to certain stage first (for the 2nd one) . I did it at its firm peak stage and that was a lot of pancake for one person. It's very fluffy. It's so yummy and I finished it anyway. How does it turn out if you just mix the egg white with the other ingrdients?

Wow. Just tried the second recipe:
1/2 cup oats
1/2 cup cottage cheese
1 Whole Egg
4 Egg Whites
Dash of Vanilla Extract
Dash of Cinnamon

With a few mods. I added in 1tbs of buttermilk and 1/4tsp ea of baking soda and powder.

Oats were put in the food processor first and spun for 30 seconds to get it to a more flour like consistancy. Then added in the eggs and cottege cheese and spun for a bit. Added in the rest of the ingredients and hit pulse 4 times to just incoroporate.

Made 3 pancakes in a 12" skillet over medium.

Taste was perfect, light moist fluffy and delicious. The protein topping also works very well. Some may like it some may not, but I liked it.

Here is what I have been making lately. I finally got it down to where it doesn't taste "eggy"

100g Egg Beaters Egg Whites
30g Egg Beaters
60g Oats
1 scoop ON's Whey Vanilla Ice Cream flavor
medium sized banana
Cinnamon

Combined all ingredients into the blender. You may have to shake it a bit so that it doesn't get stuck. Once you have a batter like substance, spray cooking spray on a skillet and heat it on medium. Pour the batter into a decent sized pancake and cook for 3 minutes on 1 side, flip it and cook for another minute or so until it's no longer runny.

Nutritional info for the whole batch is:
Calories:471
Fat:5.5g
Protein:39.5
Carbs:53.5

But I am full after half of this.
