Hey folk, so I'm looking for some recommendations for meals and snacks for days when I have a very set schedule with limited break time for eating. I participate in a drum and bugle corps which has "camp" rehearsal weekends where we go from 10am - 9pm Sat and 10am (or 9am sometime) - 5pm on Sun. These weekends (in the past) have proved hard to stick to any sort of eating routine I've tried.

I'm attempting to eat 5-6 meals a day and currently doing Power90 workouts. During the work week it's not a problem to eat every few hours as I can take breaks at work. However, when I have rehearsal for my drum corps on the weekend I can not. The schedule is:

9am - breakfast (pre rehearsal)
1pm - lunch (1h break)
6pm - dinner (1h - 1.5h break)

I'm looking for something that will fill me up and give me plenty of energy to keep going the entire day. The further we get in the season the more movement we do, during the main season (summer) I'm on my feet and moving for pretty much the entire time in the sun (This is one of the things I'm trying to get in shape for). Not to mention blowing air through a horn at the same time. Any of the "healthy" meals I bring and try to eat, don't seem to satisfy my hunger and I usually end up munching on others peoples stuff (like this past weekend was chips with bean dip, salsa, cheese, & sour cream) which is usually not the healthiest.

Any recommendations on good to-go meal I can take with me for the day and/or snacks (as I only get 5-10min breaks here & there)?

Thanks!

I make my own protein bars and i use super shakes. All you would have to do for a shake is get the ingredients together in a baggie for instance and take your shaker, when your ready fill it up in a bathroom and shake. :)

Things like protein powder, flax meal and green+ should be a decent meal. Protein, fiber and veggies. Even take some fish oil caps for your healthy Omega 3's.

Bars - make your own if possible, see the recipe section of this website

Meal Replacement in a shaker

Protein Powder in a shaker - add other ingredients if you'd like, oats, fruit, etc.

Tuna
Chicken/Tuna sandwich
Beef/Chicken/Rice/Veggies/Etc. in Tupperware
Nuts
Steel Cut Oats (raw, it's not bad tasting)
Fruit

Everything I eat can be turned into a quick, "on the go" meal. Just put it in Tupperware with a plastic fork. It doesn't take that long to pop the lid off and eat a few pieces of beef and green beans. :tucool:

For Protein shake:
I just bought 3 very small rubbermaid bottles. I will be putting a scoop of whey and a serving of flax in them for my road trips. Other than that, I have in recent weeks made bags of peanuts and beef jerky. Weighing each out of course. But I have refined this even more I believe with the small bottles.

Thanks for all the ideas! The idea of taking a shake to go never crossed my mind for some reason...

Pack this in a plastic container: Kerry's Beany Salad. (http://salad.allrecipes.com/AZ/KerrysBeanySalad.asp)

It's good cold or room temperature. I cut the rice and oil in half when I make it.

Hard boiled eggs or a home made omelette packed in foil
Home made muffins
whole grain boxed cereal
oatmeal pancakes (http://brunch.allrecipes.com/AZ/tmlPnck.asp)

Sometimes I whirl some chickpeas in a blender, mix them with onion, garlic, parsley, cilantro, cumin, tumeric or curry powder, shape them into balls, coat them with sunflower seed, and dry fry them. These are good warm or at room temperature.
