Hey all,..Hope this is in the right place,..Wasn't sure where it would go,...
Last week, I decided I need to increase weight on a couple lifts. I'm back into lifting after a good number of years off, and have been getting use to a new routine,....
I have been back at it for a few months, but more straight forward, and serious for the last few weeks. I have been uncomfortable with my Dead Lift, and Squat the most, and still trying to dial in the Lat work.
I had been taking it easy on these lifts, to help get myself better aclimated to the movements before I upped the weight, and got hurt,...A few days ago, I upped the Squat a fair amount, and had no ill effects, so I decided to up the Dead Lift a good deal, as I knew I should be lifting way more than I had been. I upped the weight from 100 lbs, to 135lbs last week. I could still do three sets of 12 without "too" much strain,....So this week, I warmed up with 135lbs, then piled on 50 lbs more to 185lbs. I'm not sure where this weight would fall into what the average guy my size would lift. 5'8", 162lbs, 44 years old, but it is a good plenty for me right now. I can honestly say, I could go a bit more, but this is going to be it for a while, untill I progress with the reps. I couldn't do three sets of 12, but as I recall,..10,,10,..8,..
Now the question,...Sure, I feel sore in the apropriate places after that increase in weight, but later that evening, I got sick as all get out. I mean like I had food poisoning, which I could very well have had. At lunch that day, I had a grilled chicked salad, from a place I had never eaten at before, and thought the dressing, "of which I had very little,..;)" tasted a little funky,...But could a huge change in Dead lift weight, put that much stress on a persons system, to throw it into a crazy reaction, that might seem like food poisoning? Could you bruise your insides so to speak, or inflame you digestive system into acting up, by lifting like this?
I know that sounds strange, but if you have ever stepped off the treadmill, or off some type of cardio equipment, to immeadiatly have to use the restroom, you might understand why I ask,...
Just a little something that ran through my mind,...It could all be bad timing,....
