Yo guys, I'll start this off with NO, I'm NOT affiliated with this company and NO, this is NOT an advertisement.

I was at my local Popeye's Supplements last week and asked the guy for a protein bar (because I'm very often not home and Gordo's no bake ones don't hold up well when working/at school) that didn't suck, wasn't full of sugar or maltitol and his response was "Do you want something clean?" So I said "Sure, what have you got?"

He gave me an Banana Nut Bread Elev8 Me! bar ( www.prosnack.com). Check out the ingredients on the nutrition info page - fruit/nuts/whey protein isolate. That's IT (and cocoa/coffee/green tea for those respectively flavoured bars). I figured I'd try one because he gave it to me for free. It was pretty good - while I certainly wouldn't qualify it as "Banana Nut Bread" and more "blended fruit with nuts smushed into a cookie'ish kind of shape with a somewhat banana/nut kinda flavour", I have to say it was definitely delicious. The taste is kinda like "fruit leather" or something like that...the texture is what you'd expect if you put a bunch of raisins, dates, etc in a food processor and formed it into a shape.

Yes, the company is local to me (it's in West Vancouver, BC, Canada) and no, I don't know who they are. I was just impressed by the bars and have now tried three flavours (the one above, cocoa coconut crunch, and all fruit original) and I think liked the banana and the cocoa ones equally, but the all fruit original wasn't bad at all.

Anyhow, it's good stuff, and apparently available in the US. So for those that are looking for a clean bar, I've found it for you.

Enjoy, if you want.

I need to get a food processor so I can make these myself.

Wow. Those look awesome. I usually have a few protein bars each week because of convenience. I work at a place where I can't take a break and prepare something, so I have to eat discretely while on the job. A protein bar is usually the easiest thing to have.

I've been having the Atkins brand protein bars for now. No sugar in them. Fat content is higher than I'd like, but my diet throughout the day is low in fat intake, so it doesn't skew my macros at all. Wish I could get these though....

If you want a clean protein bar thats pretty much better tasting than any other one out there, buy Clif Builder Bars - Peanut Butter. Yea yea it has soy protein in it, but all the hype about it raising estrogen levels and sucking as a protein source is totally not true at all. Its fast absorbing just like whey and its really effective. I would probably rather eat these than peanut butter cups, and coming from me, that is saying a lot.

Your link accidently has the close parenthesis in it so it makes the page not come up. You might want to edit that.

It looks really good. I just wish they doubled the amount of protein for the amount of fat and carbs in there for my particular macro needs. But I know I eat a high protein diet.

thanks justitia, I fixed it up (are you a lawyer? it's what I get out of your name...)

I agree on the ratio thing, I would prefer a higher protein content, which is why I'm going to make an attempt to make my own bar at some point

I tried the matcha green tea w/ cranberries and another banana nut bread bar today - wasn't that fond of the matcha, mostly because of the colour (pea soup green), but they all kinda taste the same, lol - but they're all pretty good, to separate them would be a matter of degrees, for me

Has anyone heard of Parrillo products? I've been using their protein bars for years now (although never tried any of their other products). They make 4 different version: Original Parrillo Bar, Energy Bar, Protein Bar & High Protein Bar. All taste amazing and in my opinion, the cleanest bar out there, although they can be pricy.. I've managed to stay at 6% body fat and shredded while on them during cutting phases. Here's the link to check them out. http://www.parrillo.com/products.asp .. I see they are offering a sampler with all the different versions and flavors in one box, but only a one time deal for that price. But eveyone has multiple addresses, right?

Your description of that bar reminds me of these Sugarless Bars (http://cookie.allrecipes.com/az/SugarlessBars.asp) I used to make. They're actually VERY sweet. I leave out the butter when I make them. I'd like to try them sometime by substituting the white flour with a combination of finely ground nuts, oat bran, ground flax seeds, and whole wheat flour. You could maybe add some protein powder to the recipe if you like.

Sorta similar guava, but without the water, margarine, flour, salt, baking powder, or eggs, but with the addition of a whey isolate. :tucool:

Hey Silver....where is Popeye's Supplements in Vancouver? I'm over on the island but I never heard of Popeye's.

HM, it's actually in Coquitlam (which is actually where I live, but no one's ever heard of it, so I always just say Van) on the Barnet Hwy. Basically, it's about 2 minutes west of Coquitlam Centre right beside Subway and Blak Dog Bikes, in the same complex as Milestone's, Anducci's, McD's, Burger King, etc.

For the record, I bought four of these at Save-On Foods in the pharmacy section (where they have the rest of the protein bars) when I was grocery shopping the other night, so you might check there if you're looking for these specific bars.

This might help, particularly because there's one in Victoria:

Yeah, though people usually don't guess that....good for you.

Arbiter of justice, huh? A judge, maybe?! If so, cool. That's a great achievement.

I'm in 2nd year law (in Canada) right now. It's probably why I guessed it right. Exams in a month, then one more year to go after that.

I don't know that they are "the cleanest", but they are good. The prices however are stupid for his products.

I'm still a fan of bars, mostly because I have two 15 minute lunches which simply isn't a lot of time to get a full meal in.

#1 - Sierra Bars (NO SOY! PB chip is great warmed up)
#2 - Clif Builder Bars (Chocolate is my current favorite, though PB is great w/ a cup of coffee or espresso)
#3 - Doctor's CarbRite Bars (for cutting)

But I'm starting to get the bug to come up w/ my own bars as well. Ideally I'd prefer to have non-soy, low calorie bars that are focused for people on a cut, since most bars are geared as general MRPs for people w/ a higher caloric intake than I myself have.

PS: All of the above bars are all natural, as I tend to buy most of my stuff at Whole Foods.
