View Full Version : What/How much/When to Eat When Staying Up Late? (College Students?)

I suppose this one is primarily for us college students. :)

What do you eat when you stay up later than your final meal of the day? Do you eat another normally sized meal when another three hours (or whatever your meal-to-meal interval is) pass? How many calories do you figure your tired body burns per hour sitting at a computer and typing out an essay? Any pointers on what would be good food choices?

Thanks,
Rymanes

My last meal before bed is cottage cheese mixed with strawberry yogurt.
Otherwise I'll usually have a bowl of cereal and a protein shake.

While cutting, I'd just have a small 100-200 calorie snack for every 2 hours of work. Your activity level is very low, but you are conscious so the calorie requirement is only slightly more than if you are sleeping, but still not very high at all.

If you're bulking, go for a full meal!

According to one of those calculators (http://www.caloriesperhour.com/index_burn.html), you're going to burn 110-170 calories sitting there studying if your bodyweight ranges from 140-200 lbs.

I don't think of it like this. I decide how many calories I'm going to eat for the day and spread it out over many meals. I have the last one right before bed. I make it a meal of slow-digesting protein and fat. Unless, I'm drunk on a weekend night; then I usually won't eat before bed.
