Hi all,
Been getting into using www.fitday.com and whilst entering a custom food it spat up an error saying that the calories for the food i was entering didn't add up with the amounts in grams i had entered for P,F& Carbs.

Here's the details
Vetta Lite Penne Pasta 100g serve
Package says: 1070Kj (256 calories)

18.5g Protein
1.5g Fat (less than 1g saturated)
22.4g Carbohydrate total (less than 1g sugars)

45.1g Total dietry fibre

353mg Sodium
115mg Potassium

According to the 4 cal per gram of P & C and 9 cal per gram of fat, this should equal 177 calories, not 256 as is stated on the label. Now, it gets more interesting.......if I enter the 45.1g of dietry fibre into www.fitday.com it creates a different error stating that the total grams of dietry fibre cannot be higher than the total grams of carboydrates!!

What gives!? Has the manufacturer lied on the label? 79 unexplained calories must come from somewhere!! Is there another 8.7g of fat somewhere? Is there another 19.75g of carb or protein somewhere???

Anyone with more knowledge about this stuff care to shed some light??

btw this is an Australian product.

Thought this might be a good conversation starter anyway!! :-)

Cheers

Seb
