Mick Mauldin Tue, March 7th, 2006, 03:31 PM I'm sure most of you will remember a thread I began last week about what to take to turn you into a raging bull in the gym. After much discussion and even more thought, I discovered, the fire is with ME and not in some stimulant like No Explode etc. I went into my gym Friday, triceps, shoulders, biceps and forearms. I went in as a warrior. A raging fucking bull from the heart...And it worked. I powered through the work out and stayed pumped. Now, I'm about to go on vacation and am taking a week off from everything. We leave in the morning, and it's like I want to plow right into the gym and kick some ass but I'm taking the week off to shock my entire body.
I just thought to let everyone know, you don't need to waste your money on things to get fired up. It's already there!

Dude, cut back on the raw meat and caffeine a little….But seriously, I know what you mean. Your mind can be a powerful motivator if you use it. I go in the gym and focus on each lift and take out any anger that I might have on the weights. I leave the gym stress free and feeling good. Society benefits from not having an angry swole.

I was thinking today about how some bodyparts of mine just lag behind.And it hit me that Im just not trying hard"enuff" when i do them.
Since I have gone back to gym I am doing 300 pound squats in great form.My leg extensions go way up weekly.Yet my bench is pathetic as is my back workouts.Why I ask myself......well it then hit me that mentally I am set for failure.
I put my 150 pounds on the bar for my bench and mentally I feel weak as when I am doing the set I dont have that feeling of pushing heavy weight as in my leg workouts.This thinking of the weights is whats killing my progress as instead of fighting the weight with what I have inside of me I feel defeated even before I start due to the lightweight im using playing games with my head.
I stop way short of the magical last reps.Even though I look like im doing to failure on the outside deep down inside I know I can do way more even as I rack the weight.
I need to be able to tap back into that animal that I had in my younger weight days that for some reason I only have today for my legs and side delts:lol:
So tommorow i am going in like a warrior and im gonna force my way back to my former self.:bang: :bb: :bang:
Remember in order to grow you need to push past mental failure.
