ive got this really painful (well more iritating...put hurts if touched) knot on my leg the only thing that concerns me is its in my upper thigh...upper inner thigh..somewhat close to my groin...it doesnt seem to hurt doing any certain lifts, so im not sure what could have caused it...at first i thought it cold have been a hernia...but ws advised the those are usually in the abdomen area...any clues to what this could be??

Hernias can occur in the groin. If the pain persists after a week or so, definitely see a doctor. Watch which exercises you do in the gym as well, anything that causes pain, stay away from.

Do a search on google from "groin hernias" you'll come up with lots of info.

You can have hernias occur on the upper inner leg called femoral hernias. There are also inguinal lymph nodes that can become swollen and painful with infections. Best idea, go see a doc.

Let it be, take a week off. See how you feel after a week. Unless you're in dying pain, you shouldn't have to waste money on a doctor yet. If the pain persists after a week or so, then definitely see a doctor.

For now, REST, and don't exercise. See if it might heal on it's own.

Hernias WILL NOT HEAL. They only tend to get bigger with time. They can be reducible (you can push it in and make them come out)- not an emergency, irreducible or incarcerated (stuck out and can't get back in)- urgent, or incarcerated and strangulated (stuck out, swollen and painful because the instestine or fat can't get any blood)- emergency.

If a knot is stuck out and painful and is a hernia go see a doctor soon. If it's an infected lymph node you may be able to wait it out. If it's something else, well... that's why I don't like giving advice over the internet...

I never implied he had a hernia. He isn't even sure, and at this point we shouldn't think it's a hernia yet, unless he can actually feel the tear. That's why I suggested to try to wait it out for a week, it might be something else not so serious.

Regardless, you be the judge, this is online.

You may just pulled a muscle in that area, in which case rest will heal it. However, it's likely it would hurt specifically during exercises instead of the generalness you are describing.
