View Full Version : Double-checking Regarding Fiber

Hi everyone,

I've searched through the forums regarding the infamous disappearing fiber calories and got some pretty good information regarding FitDay and how calories are computed. But I still have some confusion which I am hoping you can alleviate.

My question is regarding macronutrient splits. I'm attempting to eat 3000 calories per day, in a 30% protein / 50% carbs / 20% fat split. This works out to about 225g of protein, 375g of carbohydrates, and 65g of fat. But if grams of fiber aren't computed as part of my daily caloric intake, and if I eat a good amount of fiber, 375g of carbs doesn't yield 50% of my calories (1500 calories).

So I guess my question is: I shouldn't be worried about seeing 418g of carbohydrates in FitDay, right? If 47 of them are from fiber, then carbohydrates are still only yielding about 50% of my calories.

Additionally, I'm moving to using a spreadsheet rather than fitday, and so far I'm simply subtracting grams of fiber from my grams of carbohydrates, so my end total of carbs is only 371 rather than 418 (so I can more easily see how many more grams of carbohydrates to eat). Do you recommend doing this? Is there any harm in going over the allotted grams of carbohydrates if many of them are fiber?

Thanks in advance,
Rymanes
