hi, I have a suggestion for how users can track their progress and let others see the progress whenever they want. I have no web experience so I'm not sure if what I am suggesting is really difficult.

It would be great if there was just a basic text box in my profile where I could write my general stats as well as my progress ie. date, weight, and bf% for each day. then whenever I post a question or advice, someone could simply click on my name to see my profile with the text box and see how I am doing. I noticed that people often keep track of this info in their signatures. I just thought it might be a better way for anyone to get an idea of your progress just by clicking on your name, anywhere that you have posted. It could sort of validate people's advice as well. I don't think anything eleborate would be needed, probably just a simple textbox for every user. Or in order to minimze the space people use, it could just be a short space at the beginning for general info like height, age, and such followed by three columns each with a limit on characters, where people could write the date, their weight and bF%. I think it could really separate this forum from all the others on the web. We would be more of a commumnity of people all trying to reach our goals. And our progress would be very visible to everyone. Of course some people don't have to fill it out if they don't want to. But I bet a lot would.

I'm not suggesting that this as an alternative to the online journals. Those are still really good for much longer posts on food, workouts, etc, and people can comment.

Oh one more thing, from the name "user CP", it was a little hard to figure out what that was when I was looking for how to change my profile. Maybe just saying profile or something.

Anyway thanks for the great site, you're awesome.

I'll see what I can do about the "User CP". I think you're right -- inexperienced forum users might have no idea what that means.

EDIT: I changed it to "My Control Panel" which is a little cutesy for me, but far more descriptive. ;)

Thanks for the good suggestions!

Wow, that's awesome and fast service. I'm glad you like the suggestion. I was really excited about it when I thought of it and was hoping it could happen. By the way, my name is xxxx. I actually sent you one of the million emails you get back on 1/17/04 from my yahoo account. I just wanted to say thanks again for your well documented site and now this great forum site. I have never been a forum person but I check this several times a day.

Just a thought for the future, there may be great benefit to know how people of different sizes and ages lose weight, after one, two, three weeks etc. The data from the profiles could be tabulated and looked at for trends and such. The information could prove to be really useful possibily for the book your thinking of writing. Also from a medical viewpoint, this could very well be the largest study on weight loss ever done. I am very thankful to compare my progress to yours, via the spreadsheet I downloaded. With more people to compare it to, it would be awesome. Anyway just a few thoughts to keep in mind as you think about how to implement the idea.

Thanks again.
