VH1 is casting a new game show called The World Series of Pop Culture. You put together a team of 3 people who know their pop culture and entertainment trivia. Tryouts are next month and the show tapes in April for a fall showing.

I applied with two of my co-workers and we got a response. I think we will be trying out in Chicago. If we're one of the 16 teams chosen, we will get to go to New York to tape the show. I've mentioned here before what a game show freak I am. I've been on Concentration, Wheel of Fortune and Who Wants To Be A Millionaire.

With all the smart people here, I think it would be so cool if 3 JSFers who know their entertainment trivial got together and made up a team. I think the producers would think it was neat how the three knew each other. I'm already on a team or I would volunteer. Think about it.:gl:

Wow -- you were on gameshows? That is pretty cool ... Did you win anything?

I suck at pop culture trivia BTW .... I don't suppose not having a TV for the last 6 years has helped much.

Considering this is pretty much what my degree will end up being, I would *tear* that stuff up...

Wow Carguy, how were your experiences on those shows?

LemonSong, you ought to put your own team together and submit an application. You'd be in Chicago at the same time as me if you got to go. I'll address the other question later.

I've been on Concentration, Wheel of Fortune and Who Wants To Be A Millionaire.

Are there episode numbers I can look for or something. I dont want to read any lower and spoil the surprise to see how much you won. I would love to see those.

Wheel of Fortune is the TV game show to go on and make some money - as long as you have good luck with the wheel and get on it with the letters and puzzle solving!

I'd love to do Jeopardy! :)

Game shows rock!

oK, to answer your questions. I've been going on game shows for the last 18 years. The first one was Classic Concentration with Alex Trebek in 1988. That was also my most successful. I won a car (cheap one), pool table, keyboard, diamond ring, stereo and some smaller stuff. All told about $13,000 worth.

On Wheel of Fortune about 8 years later I solved two out of the four puzzles and each of the other contestants solved one each. But I was not the big winner. I won about $6,000.

A few years later I was on a little show called Top Card which was on the Nashville Network. You've got to know that I don't even listen to country music but it was another show and another challenge so I went for it and got on it. Only won a set of luggage.

About 5 years ago I was on Who Wants To Be A Millionaire. That first version with Regis was very hard to get on. Unfortunately I was never the fastest finger so I didn't get to play in the hot seat. I was second-fastest once. But they did pay for my wife and I to go to NYC which was nice.

If my team and I make it on this VH1 show I will be sure to let you all know. I will be posting some more info about this in the private gallery.

I'm serious people. You should get a team together and apply. What have you got to lose? It's a lot of fun and you get to hear your kids tell you not be lame when you're on TV.
