I was 245 before i went home for Christmas around the middle of December, really fell off my diet and by the end was probably an m&m away from 260, that was over 4 weeks but now that i have been back at school i busted my ass and am back down to 245 so this leads into my question. Since i gained the weight so fast did i lose it faster then if I gained it over a longer period of time because of factors like water retention?

that's probably part of it. We tend to indulge quite a bit at Christmas and other holidays...particuarly with the liquor. I remember I went tailgating one sunday last november, and the next day I was up 6 pounds. 6 POUNDS!!!!!!!!!!!!! Crazy stuff. Then again, I ate everything in sight at that game... ribs, nachos... a very bad day indeed!
Good luck.. keep eating clean!

To add to what lord said, drinking will flucate your weight a great deal, i know from first hand knowledge :) Alot of it has to do with water retention in my case, just has long has i don't pigout later that night.
I have a nice salmon burger(no bread) waiting for me when i come home tonight, very little carbs, only carbs are from the mushroom and garlic sauce.
This will be my only night out this week, pretty damn good for me.
