Hey everyone I'm new to the board and I've decided I need to get this fat off once and for all. I've made up a cutting plan and I'd like some advice to see if I need to change anything. So here goes.

Im 18 years old, 5'10 176 pounds, 18% body fat

I read Gravityhomer's fat loss guide on this forum and I plan to make my meals pretty similar to the examples he listed. In the post it said it was recommended to lose 1 to 2 pounds of fat per week. I was looking at going for 2 a week. Is that too much? Should I stick to 1 pound?

Here is my workout plan. I'm doing it basically just like the example in the fat loss guide.

Monday: Chest, Shoulders, Triceps

Wednesday: Back, Biceps

Friday: Legs, Abs

About 4 days a week I'm going to do cardio on a treadmill or eliptical for 30 to 45 minutes most likely fasted in the morning.

Also I've been playing basketball for fun (nothing real intense) about 4 days a week. Will that mess up anything? Is that doing too much? I really enjoy playing.

Of course I'll drink plenty of water and cut out all sweets and high fat foods.

Thanks for the help!

Welcome to JSF.

I... am not totally sure what you're asking? It certainly seems like you've thought about what you want to do, but you haven't provided enough details for anyone to really offer you advice.

How much do you want to cut?
What's your daily calorie intake going to be?
What do your workouts looks like (sets, reps, exercises, etc.)?
What sorts of food do you plan to eat?

I think if you offer some detail, people would be happy to help you critique your strategy.

I'd like to get down to about 10% body fat or so. Just where I'll get pretty lean and I can see my abs. After I cut then I'll want to bulk. I'll probablly do about 3 sets of 8 on workouts. I'll be eating items right off the fat loss guide like lean meats, protein shakes, wheat breads, some fruit, etc. My main question is should I shoot for losing 1 pound of fat per week or 2? Because thats where all the number crunching starts. I did the math for 2 pounds and it has me eating 1921 calories a day. I think I'll do 37% protein, 20% fat, and 43% carbs. Does that look ok? Thanks!

Start with eating 2200-2500 calories/day.

The rest sounds pretty good to me. Just don't limit yourself to 3 sets of 8 reps. Stick in the 6-12 rep range, trying to increase the weight every, or every other, week.

You sound like you have done some research and the plan sounds great. Good luck!
