I need to weigh less than 185 pounds on Tuesday morning.

I weigh 184 today. So this isn't really necessarily a desperate cutting question. I would like to drop a couple pounds of water by then, though, just to be on the safe side.

What would you do in my situation?

I'd look over swolecat's thread above. :D

Swolecat's thread is for when you're at like 7% and want to look absolutely ripped for a shoot or something - I also don't think it's maintainable. This guy just wants to not gain a pound over seven days.

I'd make sure I avoided the mall and close my eyes every time I drove by the donut shop. Mission accomplished. Your strategies may differ.

Actually, what I did last week to drop 2 pounds after more than a year on maintenance was to make sure that I ate more fruits and vegetables than usual and kept well hydrated to avoid food cravings.

Yeah that is sort of the default plan. I'm giong to keep the workouts going, and hydrate a lot until the day before. I'm going to fast for the last twelve hours because that will optimize my cholesterol score too, although that one is way low enough already.

I read the swolecat stuff a few times already while thinking about this. I'm not in the body fat range that he intended that for, but the goal of dropping the water is the same.

Yeah I just started cooking my last meal of the day and realized I need to down another liter of water.

The weigh-in will now be Thursday, so I have another two days to deal with.

Drop your calories, do cardio every day or even twice a day.. you will lose a couple of lbs of fat and water.

Today's weigfht is 180.5, so I'm feeling pretty good about tomorrow. Today is for dehydrating so I'm off the huge water since last night. Extra coffee today. I figure there is another pound of water that could get squeezed out.

I have to go through that in a year.

I started in June at 290. When I got weighed in for insurance in October, I was at 265, but her scale read 270. Seems the cutoff was 277, but the agent said it didn't matter since they take the whole last year's weight into consideration.

So, he said to redo it in a year.

Anyway, good luck!

One cool thing in my case is that my agent is big on fitness himself, so he knows how to get good rates for being fit.

By the way I know about the scale reading deal. My wife has a good scale, and I'm going by that. But the insurance medics bring their own scale and who knows what that will read. As long as it's under 185....

And they weigh you in clothes.

Make sure you are in a lightweight t-shirt and shorts. Nothing in the pockets.

Oh, and you know ANOTHER thing? They tell you to drink a lot of water beforehand for the blood draw and so you can pee easily. I drank like 6 glasses of water, which also weighs you down. So if you have to drink, wait until they come, ask to get weighed, and then drink.

I thought of all that stuff myself and agree completely - and it worked. The official number was 179.

OK so the insurance physical is done.

The results: weight was 179 - the guy's scale was within a pound of my good one.

The EKG was interesting. He showed me that the resting heart rate went from 52 at first, down to 45. I've never seen 45 on the Polar monitor.

Here's an utter coincidence. The paramedic who came to give the exam turns out to be a body builder (although not competing now). He is 5'8" and 240 pounds. But he said 11%bf now, and he looked like that was realistic. When he saw the EKG is when we chatted a little about my program. He suggests it's time to concentrate on building muscle mass. I don't disagree, but I'll never give up the cardio and endurance emphasis completely.
