I guess I'm not so much cutting as converting fat to muscle. I'm running and lifting a lot, I have a good diet going but I feel I need more protein. This would be my first time using whey, or any supplement. What do you think, would it be beneficial?

Couldn't say depends on your diet.

You can't convert fat into muscle. Build muscle burn fat.

Whey protein shakes are just fine while cutting. But... it sounds like you probably need to do a good deal more reading and research. Whey shakes can be used on any program on your way to any goal. It's how much and when that's more important.

I'm hoping you mean lose fat and gain muscle; Canada's right. Fat isn't converted - fat is stored energy, and you can use that fat for energy. Yes, muscle can be built while burning fat.

Consult the nutrition section. Do some searching on dietary needs while cutting. Read. Form a meal plan. Share it with us. Keep in mind this is a meal plan you have to live with long term to achieve results, so make it realistic. It doesn't have to be 100% perfect as long as it's a plan you will stick to. Same goes for whatever type of exercise you choose. Choose a type of cardio you like and just do it. Any form of cardio done regularly will bring results, so again, choose something you enjoy. Choose a weight lifting program that somehow targets the body as a whole throughout the week. Whether you do traditional splits or some kind of full body routine, be sure you enjoy it and execute it regularly.
