View Full Version : Need New Back excerises... CASD Mon, January 9th, 2006, 05:50 PM My arms run outta juce before my back gets a good burn,.. chicanerous Mon, January 9th, 2006, 06:04 PM Burn, what's that? :nono: ;) What exercises do you currently do? Working the back is all about form. Enigma66 Mon, January 9th, 2006, 06:08 PM Don't use feeling a burn as the measure of how good a workout is. Your arms are always going to be the weak link in any lat exercise unless you spring for a pullover machine (sure wish I could find a deal on a used one). http://us.commercial.lifefitness.com/content.cfm/pullover CASD Mon, January 9th, 2006, 06:47 PM Well I'm not sure the names...but free weight machines at Golds.. one you set high on it..and have two sep weight arms that set on the ground you..pull them together or separate.. YOu add free weights to it.. the other is a another pull one but the weight is mid height.. and they last one is pull down these are all free weight machines.. I have used the brick weight ones.. also.. CASD Mon, January 9th, 2006, 06:48 PM I've used the pullover one also...works good too bradh Mon, January 9th, 2006, 06:50 PM No bentover rows or deadlifts? CASD Mon, January 9th, 2006, 07:03 PM THe first machine is called a bent-over something or another :)..Yes I've done them with DB.. not today.. I just supersetted everything until I couldn't anymore..I started taking as much time as I needed to go again.. 30-45 sec. I did all this for about 35 min My arms are hammered :) _OZ_ Mon, January 9th, 2006, 10:40 PM I just supersetted everything until I couldn't anymore..I started taking as much time as I needed to go again.. 30-45 sec. I did all this for about 35 min My arms are hammered :) Are you doing Back and Tri on the same day? Just Back? Maybe you need to juggle your work out routine and keep the back as far away from bi/tri work as possible... CASD Tue, January 10th, 2006, 10:07 PM Back ....and abs only.. also did dips for the first time this year...I felt that :) Today I used DB's and it was much better :) more chest ..less arms ..So from now on I'm going to get more into Weights then the machines..or mix it up .. Glaive Tue, January 10th, 2006, 10:14 PM Yeah, I avoid machines as much as possible. I've always heard that free weights produce better results, and my experience seems to validate that viewpoint. As for back exercises, I do Lat Pulldowns and Bent Over Barbell Rows for my upper back, and Deadlifts, Straight Leg Deadlifts, and Good Mornings for my lower back. I've found that if my arms are giving out it's usually due to incorrect form, since that tends to shift weight into the arms instead of the back muscles. The_Tic Tue, January 10th, 2006, 11:12 PM Deadlifts, Rows, Good Mornings and Pullups. Barbell Free weight, or dumbell. Lifters best friends. :bb: Just my two cents :) jessie Wed, January 11th, 2006, 04:41 AM I don't know about everyone else but about the only time I really feel it in my bis when working back is when I do high reps (15-30). This really fatigues my bis for some reason where as heavy weight with moderate to low reps is no problem. btimby Wed, January 11th, 2006, 07:52 AM Back Day: Bent over DB rows Good Mornings Lat pull downs Seated cable rows Pullups I also do Biceps on the same day: Weighted Chinups BB Curls DB Curls Just finished this morning. I don't get any burn, but my entire back is super sore for about 3 days and I am definately lifting more since I started this routine. In fact, this morning, I added 5 lbs to all but two of the exercises (two that are lagging) and did not have a failure! _OZ_ Wed, January 11th, 2006, 08:08 AM T-Bar rows are one of my favorites... I do it old school style - weights on one end of a barbell, stick the unweighted side in a corner and go to town. It's a nice middle o' the back exercise. CASD Wed, January 11th, 2006, 08:17 AM Yea I do Hi-Reps.. Supersets I feel it today... So what I really needed is to change things up and use the free weights instead... Nice time for a change anyway...I was stalling in my progress.. Thanks Everyone! |
