Hi there,

I have been cutting for a year now and have lost 42 kilograms. I have put some pictures in the media gallery (Here) (http://forums.johnstonefitness.com/showthread.php?t=23976).

I have a little way to go before I bulk but I am getting increasingly nervous about it cos I dont want to get fat again. I guess I am becoming slightly obsessed about my weight but I kinda have to in order to keep motivated, I am the type of person who goes all out when I set my mind to something and I become very critical of myself and my progress.

I understand that you have to eat a hell of a lot to bulk but I already feel like I am eating all the time (7 meals a day, but they are very clean meals). I also worry about things like Steel Oats (I am not even sure what the difference is between these and regular oats) and having to eat like 4 cups a day etc.

Also I hear that you have to train really really really hard on a bulk but I already feel like I am training as hard as I can (I guess I would have to drop the cardio from my training which I am doing twice a week). I am lifting heavy and hard, doing squats and deadlifts (although I am still struggling to get deadlifts 100% correct). I cant really see how I can train harder. I lift 3 times a week.

Are there any really good resources on the internet that I can begin to study up on.

Kind Regards,

You dont have to eat heaps to bulk, not at your age anyway, your metabolism should have leveled out by now so just eat slightly more than usual, if you start to put on fat eat a little less.
if you were 16 to 25 you would probably need to eat heaps to bulk, depending on your body type.

In my limited experience it is all too easy to overdo both the lifting and eating during a bulk.

Keep lifting hard - do something you can maintain, not something that will burn you out. You may start lfting 'harder' as you get stronger on you bulk, but I wouldn't start with the idea that you have to lift twice as hard.

Increase calories slowly. Just as patience is good cutting, it can pay off bulking too. Plus you are probably happier with your body at the start of a bulk than start of a cut.

What Glenn said. Quite often people get the wrong idea and think it's a free for all at the buffet.

Train smart, eat smart....

Shoot for realistic increases and your gains will be lean ones. Your time frame can be a long period if you want to make slower but leaner increases over time.

If you've been carb depleted somewhat....be prepared for an initial quick gain of water weight....don't let that freak you out.
It will level off.
