So I've been working out for a couple months now and I thought I'd look into some of the supplements. What in your opinion are one of the best supplements I should consider. I heard Creatine and Whey Protein taken together is alright but what do YOU think?

BTW I'm 19 years old, 192 cm, 80 kg if that's of any help

Take a different approach.

Don't say ... "I want supplements, what should I take."

Instead, say, "Here are my goals ... what can I do to improve them?"

The first approach is common. People say, "What supplements will help me burn fat?" and then want to buy a fat-burner.

If they asked, "What can I do to maximize fat burning?" they'd find out there are probably issues with their nutrition, training, and other factors that can be corrected and will do much more for burning fat than any supplement.

It's a good question, but the assumption is generally that supplements help and takes things to the next level. It's not necessarily true. So you have to start with WHAT you want to improve, and then look at HOW, and there is the possibility that supplements may come into play.

Some examples ...

"How can I build muscle mass?"

Well, you'll want to train intelligently and have a surplus of calories in most cases. One way to get that surplus is through various protein shakes, but you can do well with food as well. If you are learning how to build muscle, stop right there. Don't even worry about supplements because you don't even know the fundamentals yet. If you're an experienced lifter who knows how to put on muscle mass, then adding something like creatine might make sense. While many people waste their time and money with creatine because they aren't training right in the first place, someone who knows what they are doing can certainly benefit from, say, creatine.

"How can I improve my health?"

The American Medical Association no longer suggests you can get everything you need from food ... they state that adults SHOULD be on a quality multivitamin.

"How can I improve my fat burning?"

Nine times out of ten, people with this challenge are not following proper nutrition and training to lose fat. No supplement will fix this. On the other hand, if you are already consistently losing 0.5 - 1 percent of your body fat per week, there are quite a few supplements that may augment that in certain ways, either by helping you manage your appetite, preserving lean mass, or actually improving the fat burning effect.

Those are just a few examples. Don't get me wrong, I asked the same thing when I started, but I assure you, supplements are NOT the key. They make a difference but only if you know what you are doing. I would suggest if you're not sure what supplements to take, you're not really ready to be taking much more than a multivitamin. Once you are more informed and have done more research, then you'll be ready to make a decision. Otherwise, what you'll get is a lot of opinions from some people who understand supplements well, but unfortunately also a lot of people who don't really have a clue but think a certain supplement worked just because they don't know better and therefore will recommend it without really understanding it.

Thanks for your advise. I think I might have gotten an idea from what you've just said.
