Ok, im probably going to get shot down in flames for this kid, but i wouldnt bother with Creatine. People swore by it to me, but i tried it and noticed little gain. Any gain i did feel, i put down to being psycho-sematic, as in "all in my head". The problem came when i stopped taking it. With creatine, you need to give your body a break from it. Why? Well, your body produces it naturally. When you take it, you have an elivated level in your body. However, your bodies reaction to this is to produce less naturally, so eventually, the body produces less and you end up with the same level that you would have had without taking anything ! So you come off it, allow your body to naturally produce it again to the normal level then take the suppliment to give the higher level etc etc. I found that during the time i came off it, i was so lathargic and energy-less, i simply couldnt muster the energy to workout, and for me that is pretty bad, coz i rarely slack off. Because your body produces less than normal, hence why you give it a break, when you cease the suppliment, you have a lower than normal level in your body, which i believe to have caused the lack of energy.
Also, at 14, i wouldnt recomend heavy weights, although working out and keeping heathly is a great idea ! And as creatine is best to help lift heavier weights (again i expect comments on that statement) id give it a miss.
I take whey protein shakes every morning and after a workout. Just my system, whatever works best for yourself.
Good luck kidder ! :tucool:

Whey can be taken any time throughout the day, as long as it somewhat corresponds to your training schedule. Do what feels right for your body, not based on anyone elses particular protein schedule. Some people drink a cassein/whey protein blend shake before bed, to help throughout the night. Others do a pre- and post-workout shake. Others just do a post-cardio shake so that they can perform cardio on an empty stomach.
regarding creatine, its a waste right now for you. at 14 years of age, you have enough natural growth hormone surging through your body which negates the need for creatine. you are still growing, dont worry about creatine or other cell volumizing products. the best things to do at your age is nail down a good diet, a good multivitamin, drink plenty of water, and add some extra protein throughout the day. toss in a nice mix of cardio and lifting, and you should be set.

That brings up an interesting point- I would have a shake for/with breakfast (I work out in the evening). I figure it's as good a anything else for breakfast. Is this correct, or am I wrong?
